re ballot survey. I wondered if I had a better chance cos of my age/sex/time?? Surely they must do some sort of sorting otherwise you might have all the runners finshing at the same time excluding the elites of course. This being one of those races that everyone wants to do regardless of whether they have ever even jogged for the bus before.
HI! I am new to this forum and to the whole running experience! However, I have filled the form for the ballot and I have already started training seriously (I have a place through a charity).
You might have mentioned this already at some point but what does it mean if your cheque has been cashed??
Mine cashed on 28/10 and I didn't bequeath. Now to find the time to do the same amount of training I did for FLM05, as well as buy/sell a house and prepare for my wedding in July '06!
Have just been into the London Marathon website and you can ask for weekly newsletter with info and training advice. Did you do that Tinkerbelle, either this year or in a previous year of applying?
Hi monica, if you didn't bequeeth your entry fee and its been cashed then you have a place. If you did bequeeth and it was cashed the same day as the non bequeethers (like mine was) folks are guessing that also means you have a place.
I bequeathed and it was cashed on Nov 2nd. Ohmygod. I'm now going to be really nervous until I find out for sure. I applied for a Cancer Research UK Golden Bond place and I didn't get that, but they are putting me on their reserve list.
I might have to see one of my hair brained ideas through!
Mmm.........does look as though all the successful entries were cashed on the 28/10, can't for the life of me think what the hell is going on with mine?? - cashed on 2/11 but not bequeathed. I suppose they could have made a mistake and cashed it by accident. Would be uplifting to hear of anyone else in same boat.
Thanks Ultra Hamster. I have bequeathed and my cheque was cashed on the 2nd, just like you winkle. As I said, I've got already a place and I have started my training but I'm very nervous about foundraising :-) Just tell me I got this right: if you go through the ballot you don't have to fundraise, right? The charity that gave me the place wanted to me to do the ballot too. Why is it so complicated? For marathons in other places (like Italy, where I'm from) you pay a entry fee and if you do that within a deadline you are in; no fundraising (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong...I'm just not sure I'm good a that).
Monica, you misunderstood I think........I asked for my cheque to be returned if unsuccessful entry. Have to agree on the complicated bit though; it is starting to feel like the easy bit is the running! (She sniggered)........Oh God it's such a long way!
Sorry winkie, I think you are right...I have misunderstood the whole thing. I guess this means I didn't go through. Never mind...I really hope you do :-))
Does anyone know the date the 'Congratulations'/'Commiserations' magazines actually get sent out? My friend applied by Postal order so will have to wait to receive this before he finds out if he got it!
no chased cheque....boo hoo sob sniffle ....phew, thank god for that - time to prepare for a half marathon or something even less time demanding and easy.
letters have started arriving, my brother bequeathed and got a yes on saturday. so where is mine . is there any rhyme or reason to how they send them out?
hey everyone, got my accepted letter this morining!!!! so excited!!! bequeathed 28/10. says i was rejected in the initial ballot but got one of the 1000 places in the bequest draw so i guess all the accepted bequeathed places were cashed on the same day... 28/10!!!
I am in, second time applying. bequeathed last year but not this year. Cheque was cashed on the 28/10 and now its official.
Anyone now if this is flatter than the Edinburgh marathon?. I got a gauranteed place last year and thought what the hell. First marathon and did it in 4h28. Hoping to break the 4hour mark this time. Is this being over ambitious?
Hi My first time entering. I bequeathed and mine was cashed on 2nd November, so guess not in. :-( Oh well , at least there's a guaranteed place after so many unsuccessful entries. I've got a couple more years to train for it now... I can't get a charity place, as i want to run for little Hearts matter and they don't have a place yet. Claire xxx

I've also applied for a GB place with Leukaemia Research. After months of convincing myself I wouldn't get in either way, I'm now daring to hope...
Happy FLMing to you suckeressful applicants
(Too impatient to wait until I get home and check my post tonight!)
Thanks - would appreciate a heads-up so I can get on with my dayand think about something else!!!
