Live in Bishopbriggs and regularly found along the canal heading up to Kirky and beyond. Someone mentioned some nice runs in the Campsies - does anyone have any pointers as to a nice place to head for for a relatively easy 10 miles or so? Would love off road but not mountainous - I'm no fell runner.
They call me a Southerner in these parts - I'm from Manchester but feel almost adopted now...
Hi KKD, I'm good, but, sadly, no faster. Yes, looking out my red nail polish for a full calendar this year including the women's 10K and the Polaroids! May even give the EK half a go too! Hope to see you at some events. However, think I saw somewhere that you are doing FLM? - we're not worthy....................
Hi ian you could run from sportscenter into torrance some great back roads also some great paths over to campsie with good views of the campsie hills. Also my pals run from sportscenter in muirhead on a sunday morning 9-15am start always welcome new runners we will look after you.We do loads of routes roads and trail but no hill runs thats just me.
I do some of my lunchtime runs in Glasgow Green and run / cycle from work to Howwood.Used to run on the Kelvin Walkway and beyond to Westerton and Drumchapel at lunch and afterwork.Have done lots of the local Glasgow races.
KDD don't advertise the cycletrack too much it really is a hidden gem.About 80% of my runs are on here even in these dark nights although I do tend to go to Kilbarchan and not to Lochwinnoch. Taking into account the neds, the pavements and the traffic it is the best place to run and can be fun watching dog walkers trying to figure out what is happening.
Good run is Old Kilpatrick to Balloch, along the cycle track. No hills and is about 11.5 miles long. Once youget to Balloch you can either get drink at Balloch hotel or just get train home.
Aiming to be fit enough to do this run again come March(ish).
Must admit coming from balloch myself there are some better pubs around than the balloch hotel. Try the tullie inn the next tim or the dog house a bit further up the street
Or, alternatively, enter the Balloch-Clydebank Half Marathon on Mar 11th. Free transport from Playdrome in Clydebank to Lomond Shores, then run/race back. Just to push yourself that bit further/harder.
wannabe - you can get your number sent by post and just meet the rest of us there. Also, I think Robert likes the Balloch Hotel cos it does (at least it used to) a fine choice of real ales. Plus you can sit on the banks of the Loch during the summer. Well, you could do that now if you really wanted to, but then again.....

Back after a few days off-line.
<blushes after reading K2's post>
Hamsterjam - I have friends in Bishopton - know it well - love The Golf Inn. Is it still spit 'n' sawdust?

Happy running, everyone.
Dude, I'm with your Dad!
Kiai!
I wondered where he had got to
So you just have to make the best of what you have. The countryside is close and there's plenty of it.
Running to and across the Erskine Bridge and over to Old Kilpatrick is an option.
Didn't realise so many would come on this thread !

Its great. You can go right to Largs or Glasgow. Its not lit though so it'd have to be during the day.

I agree that its very good and also under estimated.
Just have to be aware if cyclists though!!
Get them back on the roads and leave the cycle paths to the runners !!
Dude - you doing your "normal" Sunday tomorrow? Might try to pop down the Judges for a while.
Yes I was at the Judges yesterday, did you make it?.
Hope you didn't see me and my cohorts as we were drunks as skunks. I had been hillwalking in the morning and the first pint went to my head a bit..
I was wearing a red and grey striped vesty thing.
Sorry Dude. Didnae make it after all. Spent the day packing up the wee man's toys etc as we are moving house 2 weeks today. STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't get me started on dog walkers who use 'extendable leads' for their canine pets !
Stress! No stress like moving stress so they say. Helping my mate move house on the 9th.
Nightmare on Elm Street but I owe him a favour or 10
Good luck with it. Where u headed?
