Good idea on another thread to look at finish as %age e.g. I came in 10.08% down the field, then compare this %age to other years and coming the same %age down the field would have given a 3:20 in both 2006 & 2004, both cooler years and a 3:24 in 2005. Therefore I conclude that my 2007 run was actually better than my 2005 run even though its 2 min slower.
It's hard to know I didn't even crack the 3:30 barrier but I took away too many lessons, and there are still too many positives for me to feel too down!
02:59 actual 03:05-03:10 hoped for (Injury plagued build up) 02:57 PB (2006)
Thrilled with the time, heat affected me near the end, but I did have the luxury of some training in the heat in Bahrain and the week earlier in Malaysia (35C + 80-90% humidity), which made the London temperatures more palatable, but difficult nevertheless.
a) 3:54:53 actual b) 3:45:00 hoped for c) 3:56:54 previous best
It's worth noting that I came in in 7,989th place overall with my 3:56:54. Last year Gordon Ramsay came in with 3:46:10 in 7,942th place, so I reckon the weather counted for between 8 and 9 minutes in my case.
Still loved every second of it though, despite the pain! :-)
