I note a few complaints about lack of goody-bags and t-shirts with this one on the ratings. Am I the only one who thinks there's never anything remotely useful in goody bags anyway and never wears the t-shirts? I moved house recently, from Leeds down to Leamington, and I sent a whole bin bag full of race t-shirts to the charity shop, many of them never worn! Just me?
MK, well done! Think you did really well, and hope you enjoy the post-mara 'high'. (I must admit when I read your post a week or two back, my immediate reaction was to advise you went for the Half instead. So glad I kept my mouth shut, and left others more experienced to advise!!)
Morticia, you did brilliantly. I thought you said you were feeling in a 'slow' mood!! (Have you thought about starting a Greenway Appreciation Society??!).
WWN, thanks, and well done to you. I'm sure the kids would love Blackpool. The main thing that puts me off is the fact it's in June, and I really don't like it too hot. Perhaps people can persuade me it's not too bad because it's cool near the sea or something?
Hippo, I'll gladly shoot Scooby Doo for you if I can find him.
How are everyone's legs today?
I meant to say I was so relieved about the weather yesterday. I was sure it was going to be too hot, but it was perfect, (apart from a tiny bit too much headwind on the G****W**). I'm almost glad I didn't get into FLM this year now, after hearing all the horror stories of people wilting in the heat.
I think I need to get a job which is more friendly with the hours first. I've only been able to do one run per week. But seriously I don't mind 2hr runs, however I've not enjoyed the runs longer than 2hrs. So I think that half maras are going to be my limit.
Strangely I enjoyed the 2nd lap more. I don't know if that was because I was walking.
What an excellent weekend and a superb day yesterday - very well organised and very friendly event - well done to all, some excellent results.
This was my third marathon in three weeks (after Paris and London) - started off slow and finished feeling full of running - pleased to have got round in 3:39:10 (9 minutes faster than London) - Three Forts Marathon next Sunday (recovery permitting).
Exactly Mick. Although I do like getting medals to hang on my bookcase. Mind you, when I've done as many as you, the bookcase might not take the weight!
I think its greatly helped by the fact that stratford is a genuinely nice place to spend a weekend. Ironically I thought the off road stretch was the worst bit - god it drags on horribly (that same stretch is used in the night and day marathon so it had an air of grim familiarity)
good that it wasn't dead pan flat and there where at least a few very mild climbs and downs.
I was surprised by how much support was on the course, great atmosphere.
Some really nice pubs around atratford to - stopping at 4 pints the night before was nearly as difficult as the run.
Hello all, just done this one, first full un and really enjoyed it. Although I thought a banana and a bottle of water was a bit dire as goodies. Where can we view photos does anyone know?
Cath, you did fantastically yesterday!! You've now reduced me, (along with the entire Daily Thread it seems), to tears! I'm just sorry I didn't get to meet you or see you cross the finish line.
Mega amounts of good luck for your Dublin training - you sound well fired-up now!!
Just to say a huge congratulations to everyone. Also, a massive thanks to the woman in the pink t-shirt who kept my spirits up on the 2nd lap and to Mick & Phil for making me smile at m26.

This one has put me back on the bench for a bit, but at least I got my mate round in sub 3.
