work where do I begin- after degree did voluntary work in mental health then worked at mental health drop in then went off to do massage - wanted to be asports therapist then got into HIV - then drugs then research then back to HIV then finally last job mental health employment project (physician heal ythyself)
now i want a break from people care - its v draining and vol sector is v underresourced
gals why do you race? - im curious as it doesnt appeal to me - its much more about the personal challenge of just being able to run through the woods again for me
could do but havent done any for along time - got fed up with dodgy punters who wanted a FULL body massage when I wanted to do calfs and hams and quads - you know sporty muscles not the other one!
Pixie, it's not short for anything - think Greek alphabet.
Bune, I'm not a gal but I race because the whole atmosphere is invigorating - it's an "event" in a way a solitary training run can never be; and it remains so whether I come first or last. Love it!
psi, I was in the middle of a witty reply on th d*** s*** when my pc crashed, spooky heh?? lets see if it does it here.
Serious cross threading going on here, all posting at once! I'm in somerset, so we are all pretty far-flung I think!
EP is Reading flat?? I seem to remebmber you mentioning H o t Y show? am i right? was that you? I used to work with horses near Reading about 220 yrs ago, have you always lived there?
Bune, i'm with EP on the why race bit, i did Race for Life, and promptly entered half m! I just run for me, would like to be a bit quicker, but not that bothered, getting round is aim, and the whole thing is because if I don't have a race looming it's all to easy not to get out.
psi sorry didnt see you there mate - wasnt calling you a gal!
EP youre great - the only race i ever entered was race for life in June this year- i walked with an injured teammateand we got round in under 50 mins - used to run a bit but when i ran it was the london and a few other marathons and being a very competitive perfectionist (you said it) I didnt want to do something that i wasnt going to be v good at!
now age and the wear and tear of the years has humbled me and i would firstly like to run to be healthy again and then for the pleasure of it - im atrails and rural kinda gal
I really admire you for entering races - i dont feel confident enough in my ability to run over longer distances and the extra weight makes it uncomfortable - thats why 5k appeals because i could train for it fairly easily and build up a bit of endurance and lose the pounds - am thinking raceS for life now! also while still playing hockey sept til easter i have to stay injury free and playing and training make a serious running programme difficult to juggle
Veryclever Psimon, I pcked my name in a hurry, wanted to be slug but there was already one, wish I'd done a clever, witty, meaning ful one instead! Stuck now! (Someone threatened to pour salt on me!0

Actually that's a total lie. It's just cos I haven't got any imagination to pick a username.
It'll be a bundling-you-in-the-back-of-an-unmarked-vehicle job if you don't acquiesce.
(What was that about meeting weirdos from the Internet again?!)
