Welcome and don't worry about your 10k time just relax and enjoy your running and run your own race - it will be a PB. Running is also great for stress relief.
I'm more of a plodder and I tend to do a half marathon in around 2:30 ish although I'm following Hal's intermediate training program this time as I'm hoping for a new PB of 2:15 which would mean maining an average pace of 10:20 min/mile.
My number is 291 say ello if you see me.
I seem to have missed out on all the latest postings is there a problem with the thread notifications??
I have done the Blackpool HM 3 times but never the GNW HM... hoping to try and get a better time in the cooler February weather.... should be a good lead in to the Blackpool HM on 5th April..
I see the Liverpool HM has had the route changed. Is this for the better?, will it be a nightmare getting to the start line and getting parked up? I think that I might stay over of it is in the Centre on town and not in the Park anymore.
The important question, is it flatter than the last route?!!! I want to do a Marathon but have had som many niggles over the last 18mths... I have lined up my HM's for this year until June, so I might enrol for Dublin in the Summer if my body is saying so....
I am doing Liverpool and Blackpool HM's back to back..
even if your friend was slow there should always be some one at the finish from first runner to last
it does not matter if you are fast or slow it is the taking part that counts did Torbay half this year when I had finish went to shower then went back to watch other runners finish
No Mas - the course for Liverpool has not been approved yet BUT it would be a bit flatter than last year the hills are taken out and the finish is down hill

Cheers JPenno... I have my PB at the old Liverpool HM course.. just need to get my calf sorted and hopefully I should be sorted... Doing plenty of x training and the weight is falling off nice and steady..I guess you will be happy with the draw for the 4th round of the cup...
Ive had exactly same thoughts!! Although I will have to see how I feel on the day as this is my first half, and training hasnt quite gone to plane due to illness etc...
Last times I did Blackpool Half I made the mistake of pulling away too quickly (well for me). I was feeling good up until miles 8/9 but really suffered during the last 3 miles and was overtaken by some Make A ish ladies I'd overtaken at the start - I know I should have let them pace me!!!

I have always wanted to run the Island

great place I am to enter again 3rd time
I stayed in the Berry hotel just across from the start
I am joining in late but I did this one a few years ago and it was a good course and a potential pb run.
It was a good day though and it can be tricky seaside if the weather is foul but a good race overall.
Can anyone advise a good time to arrive for this race and a good place to park?
I would say get there early as this can be packed this race
best place to park either Gynn square or on the road above the Hilton hotel
RW pacers will be there
they where there when I did it last year
7 min miles to run/walk
they will be holding a pole with min miles they do so you will have no trouble finding them
good luck
