Patella Tendonitis is known more as jumper's knee because it is more often found in people who play sports such as basketball or volleyball. Runner's knee is often associated with ITB syndrome. Many people get confused between the two.
Congrats to those who got into GNR through the Telegraph ballot, and I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for those waiting for the normal ballot - I want to meet mr sj so I am especially keeping my fingers crossed for him
And I am still working on your stuff mr sj.... I haven't forgotten.
Just got a e-mail from Bupa saying I've not got through the ballot for this year Great north run. But have been put forward for the general ballot in Feb. Not entered this for a bit can anyone explain what they are on about? Or do they split the ballot to try and get more spammers/sponsors by using a different one for each ballot?
I think they mean that you are now entered in the Bupa ballot for the Great North Run. Basically they don't want to give you your money back yet unless they have to......
The Telegraph one is the one that has been decided today - if you didn't get in through that then you are entered into the Bupa main ballot. So you still have another chance to get in.
You can always stay and chat with us reprobates anyway if you like.
Gosh I got a telegraph place too - can't believe it! I live in London - does anyone know where a good place to stay in Newcastle might be - I'd like to get it booked sooner rather than later. Gosh, I'm really worried about it all not!
Many are already full in Newcastle City Centre as the date has changed. It was the first weekend in October, then they moved it to the 20th Sept, and everyone rebooked their rooms before the hotels realised.....
Evening all (new & old...if you know what I mean) & wb Anson
Well done to all who got a place & fingers (& everything else) crossed who haven`t yet & have to wait till Feb (esp the regulars)
Back from a club run - hillwork as needs to practice, practice, practice hillwork. Can now enjoy a weekend of RR (yoga weekend - a running free weekend...what is that like??? )
Before I forgot - Good luck to the runners & racers this weekend esp those entering Brass Monkey HM & Roman IX.
RTG & MrSJ - there are a number of threads here & on Fetch about knee problems & advice..
Evening one and all...a rest night for me tonight. Hoping to get out tomorrow evening and do about 5k though. My new NB 1062's came today cant wait to try them out..
Evening all... welcome to all the newbies etc etc. This lot can be a bit talkative (especially on a Friday night on the antioxidants), but don't let it scare you off!
Sadly didn't get in the Telegraph ballot, but fingers crossed for Feb 9th
Quick bob round the block for me - just 2.5 miles fartleks as I wanted to stretch my legs but didn't want to overdo it before the first race of the year on Sunday. Felt good, comfortable etc so happy I went out.
How fed up and annoyed am I? The answer - very. 7:30 and just about to get my running stuff on when I rubbed my eye; within 30 seconds my eye was bloodshot and a few minutes later i've got some gooey crap on my eye. Look like an infection - bloody great!
I wear contacts when I go running and there's no way I could get a lense on my deformed eye. Crap.
Going to jump in the shower now, then make a coffee and watch TV with one eye, being miserable.
Yeti, 135 days......no problem
Well done to the peeps with confirmed entries, best of luck to those waiting for the main ballot.
Nice to Yeti`s book reading choice - not your eye Mick
LOL, I did wonder, Mr K - glad you edited the post! Although I'm only reading up online, not a book... Just finished with the physio this week but she reminded me I really need to work on my core, so thought I might as well find out what she's talking about

Stringy - is this the first you've had the infection? Hope you get to see an optician or doc
I forgot to take my contacts to the gym the other day so did everything with my specs on - hated every minute!
Hope it sorts itself out soon enough (((Stringy)))
