I am ok coz I am a rural, but there starting on us now they AC screwed all the town deliveries! got a few races planned bideford half, dutchy marathon, Rome m, taunton mar, London, and Swiss Alps marathon! Anyone doing any of these?
Will do m8! Bideford half is a good start on March 1st.can get a entry form online, check out tamar trotters website for Devon or Cornwall races! See ya about!
Who's delivery has been badly affected by the snow this week? I could only get about 1/3 of mine done today, too trecherous to go anywhere else. I'll have one full van tomorrow providing it thaws out.
Finishing 3 hours early, you'd think it would be the ideal time to go out for a long run. Too damned slushy or icy depending on where you step for it to be safe however.
We had the option of finishing early but our evil DOM wanted to bank the hours so I went 2 over delivering about 3/4 of my delivery in up to 1 ft of snow. Loads of ice today by the looks of things so more docket!
Hope to run in the nexy couple of days if the ice allows as my race tommorrow is cancelled
Your manager sounds like one complete **** postie postie. If we finished early, my DOM told us we couldn't book any overtime should we finish late the next day. Bloody flexible hours!
Postie boy our DOm is . He went off with stress last November but came back after christmas with a vengence. None of the line managers can stand him either. Instead of sending us out first thing to get rid of the backlog he kept us in sorting til it was too late to complete a delivery and the sorting failed anyway. He's just a ****s.
About to enter Silverstone Half anyone know how many laps it is?
I'm an ex postie,i left in 2003. I am a bus driver now.Not too sure if that's any better. Is it worth going back into RM or is it a waste of time these days.?
It's alot different now. As to whether or not it's worth it depends on the office and the contract you're offered, which varies alot depending on where you are. Also if you want the overtime to make up the money you have to work every second of it unlike the old days. I don't enjoy as much as I used to but there are plenty of worse jobs out there too.
Another ex here and DO NOT JOIN RM is all I have to say.
When I ran for RM we had a local organiser who used to send me entry forms for the local races incorporating RM champs. I also used to get an invitation for the Welsh castles relays RM have a sceme where you fill in a form and send off for a grant to help pay for it. As they won't supply 200/400 vans anymore you may need to see if they would take into account for van rental. Your union rep should be able to get the phone number to get application forms.
I remember the days when i used to do the RM cycle races (time trials).I did my 1st north east champs 25 mile time trial in 1988 which qualified me for the nationals. In 1992 i won the RM national "25" with 52 mins 27 secs and aslo won RM sports personality that yr.I did that for about 10 years before RM disbanded it.It a shame things went like they did with RM,that's one of reasons i left i guess, but i do miss the old job.Maybe it's just rose tinted specs!
how about this for a day. union rep has had enough so packs it in, no key for the locker, usual person that does it day off, cover is off sick, and nobody knows which manager has a key
Well most, today I caught the train into Falmouth early, ran along Gylly beach for twenty minutes, ran on into Town and back to the beach before arriving at Docks.
Had a nice job painting the new bridge in the sunshine, dolphins were spotted again follwing the St Mawes ferry across, all in all, lovely day
This time last year I was delivering post in Grumpy Oxford, being Grumped upon by Grumpy Managers.
