Looking at 2012 barley, you gave time to save, and yes, probably more like $50 now, if you get one you gave to validate slot by doing a 1/2 or full that year
Fantastic report Rosey & massive congratulations at such an orsum performance!
Often wondered about the lottery. I've been tempted to enter but never done so, in the back of my mind I have this nagging doubt about the legitimacy of being there with all the people that have qualified.
Only you would know if you turned up as a lottery athlete. It's far too big a week for anyone to worry about how other athletes got there and judge, most of the conversations tend to filter back to 'where did you qualify' but not how fast you were. If you are fine with it, enter.
Rosey, have to get my arse out over the weekend as i cannot have another DNF at Roth, we both had the week starting October 10th off work and as you said the flights were around the £600 mark and we just did not have that and the money for somewhere to stay and for spending, we have always wanted to go to Hawaii but would rather go and support or even be a helper, when we helped at Lanza, we just gave everyone so much support and we got so many thanks back, just really really enjoyed it.
Time to save for next time tonks, it really is an amazing day for volunteers too, they are so thanked and looked after it shames other races i know of.
I am going to post a few of these up if they help to imagine what the place was like, this is a german YouTube showing the week before, the White Sands beach part is where the lads stayed, 3 miles out of town and this is you pool !!! Awesome, queen K is just that, it shows the energy lab and yes, finding Bella out cycling or Stephen and Bella out running along Ali'i drive is just a normal day
Well boys you know what to do, head down, it's achievable, pick the right race, you guys are both in the early years but you are about 3 years into IM now, time to kick butt now eh ?
I think it is possible but it's a few years off yet, certainly for me but I think someone else could get very close should he decide to give it a go. One more season of half's and then another go in 2011 for me, then I think I will have the base to build on. Want to get to a level where I feel I am racing rather than completing.
Doozer, there seems to be a fair size Dorset possie on these forums, where abouts are you from, i am from Bridport originally as are a couple of others.
Great Blog, Rosey, photos are great!! Makes me want to do it so so much. Only done one IM but give myself 10 years and I think I could do it..... Just need to shave about 2/3hrs off and i'm there, easy!!
TB, sorry I didn't get back to you the other day. I'm in north Dorset, just outside Shaftesbury. Work in Yeovil where everyone in Yeovil works, not far from you at all!
I am based in Crawley now, but am always in Yeovil delivering to Screwfix, and Doozer was in Bournemouth on Thursday, i go to a great bakers in B'mouth is it Idah's and then Sands coffee shop a few doors along,
Dont think i would ever qualify for Kona, well maybe if i missed out half the bike ride Oh and half the marathon can do the swim ok

Well done Rosey
I followed your progress towards hawaii and followed you on race day, and I'm made up that you got to realise the dream.
It sounds like a world away from the bit of sport I do, and I'm not feeling inspired to try and go there myself, but thats just me.
Well done for chasing and realising your dream, more folks should try and chase their own.
