we're limited to 600 this year PP, as too many more will mean too long a rest at the top of the dipper!!
we're also smoking out any cheats who wait at the top or try a short cut through the bushes - wolves and bear pits await those who stray from the path!!
well, the dipping bridge road was closed today and the river was looking "swollen" to say the least. No trips down there for me as a nagging calf injury is also keeping me swollen in the gut department!
My hip/pelvis is still a bit gammy Phil. I haven't actually run since July (apart from a week trial come back that was a bit of a no-go as hip was still hurty). I was going to start training again as of tomorrow, re-focus on my running (it's cycling that caused my hip pain), but I'm not sure I can get back to 10k in 6 weeks without taking unnecessary risks... Just worried I'd live to regret it as a bit sick of false starts...
random question for you.....Are you the 'Phil Protheroe' I saw outside Schipol airport waiting for a bus to the hotel, before the Amsterdam marathon 2008? (I was with the wife and bin lids at the time).
If you're not, there must be 'Phil Protheroe' Spartucus fan club because he had your name on his T-shirt.
Anyway, have entered the pudding race again for the revitalising, cold streams, mud, and sh*t farm......
No PB for me! Twas a rather painful experience I'm trying to forget
I got around in 3'50ish but having to stretch my left calf every mile for the last 8 miles did not make for PB potential.
Next year is my PB year, or that's what I keep telling myself. I've been running 2 marathons per year for the last 3 years, so am just going to settle for the one in 2010 and set myself a 3'30
no mara for me this year either - one niggly injury after another. wa going to do new forest in september, but had to drop out with 3 weeks to go due to another injury, which is only just clearing. - did 1/2 hour yesterday pain free, so fingers crossed!!
entries are now over 450 - so less than 150 slots left - if you've been lurking, get in -- there are no entires on the day!
water flowing well and fast and very cold! not as deep as i thought it would be, but touching the knees in places - i've been in it waist deep in the past [and broken the ice to jump in!]
definitely yes PP.............they send you through the stream near the end of the course.
my son is doing an endurance day down there next sunday with the south wales cross country schools people.........great idea to take them to the sanddunes.....

shame - as today was ideal dune runnnig weather!
you know I'll happily muck in but for this race I'd also love to see my OH finish... any jobs at the finish you want an extra pair of hands for?
i can think of several - but all are too indecent to print!!
always need people on the last mile o r the finish - if you can't run we'd welcome you nam!
we try and book the sunshine every year!
entries now over halfway, well ahead of last year, and we sold out early for the first time last year. Online entries now ok again
get in quick or regret missing the fun!!

Windy - not quite so random - it was indeed me!
how did you get on afterwards? I scored a massive pb, 3-33, taking 13 mins off my previous

hopefully get a stream report this weekend if leg is ok
i'm already in
What role have you been given for race day, Mr. Phil ? (pie distributor by any chance) ???
I kept putting it off but I've finally entered ...
I really enjoyed this race last year and I know what to expect this time but whether that's a good or bad thing though is yet to be seen.
ant - they won't let me near the puddings - there'd be a small bite out of each one!
i'll be at the top of the dipper, stopping people taking a short cut though the bushes, and also at the finish counting in numbers
Yeah i'm looking forward to this one!
stream update!!!!!
water flowing well and fast and very cold! not as deep as i thought it would be, but touching the knees in places - i've been in it waist deep in the past [and broken the ice to jump in!]
mud was plentiful - good signs for race day~!
