Woohoooooo...I'm a film star! But probably just a bit part because I can't find myself in those videos! But they are great reminders of the fun and run I enjoyed with the Coasters - beautiful places, son't you agree??!
All the best wuth this stretch - keep it going for those of us in SW Englams who've got ages to wait yet for our turn. Hope the sun stays with you rather than rain or snow
Lizzie Rose was running the baton from the ferry port on Jura to Craighouse where the race starts from. Not sure whether she was doing that last night or this morning. Distance about 8 miles.
Susannah is happy to do a podcast after todays race, I can arrange that for Sunday evening or Monday once she is back from Jura. Who should we contact to record a phone interview ?
brilliant Dave. She will have to leave contact details so she can get a thankyou card. Alternate, I can mail you a blank one so you can distribute them to runners as you seem to know them.
Of course I ran yesterday, Stu! Do you think I would be slacking? There are many miles to cover as you know!
Today was tough though, all those steep climbs and then suddenly I was falling down again at such speed! I clung to Susie's arm really tightly in case I fell off and got lost! Susie is my pet name for Susannah by the way... she's a lovely lovely lady...
hi all to those who were worried about talking in the podcast you might like to hear what the first Coasters update was like: http://runningandlife.co.uk to be fair, it's not a typical podcast episode because this month we did a 30 minute special on the Brathay ten in ten challenge. but if you don't want to listen to that bit, skip to about the 30th minute and you'll hear an update on Barry's progress. we'd love to generate more publicity for the run in the next podcast at the end of June so if you're doing any part of the run over the next couple of weeks and wouldn't mind spending 5 minutes chatting about it, drop me a line at runningandlife@hotmail.co.uk. let's keep the publicity going and make sure this run is a success!
Our run started down at the harbour on a beautiful, sunny, evening and took us north , along the shore, to Ardrossan. We had spectacular views across the sea to Arran and beyond the whole way and running on the traffic-free cycle path was a pleasure. There were wildflowers, everywhere, and..at our pace...we had plenty of time to enjoy them. After a slight detour inland along the banks of the river Irvine, we were back on the shore for the final stretch along the proms at Salcoats and Ardrossan and our own ‘sprint’ finish to the ferry terminal.
We knew that our stretch took Barry through the 500 miles barrier and, yes, I did sing that song....in an aaaacent.
’Slightly sad to say goodbye to Barry as he left our hands, and the mainland, for the start of his offshore adventures.
P.S. @ MAT ( Well, she is a mathematician..)
MAT +AMT (112 years,9 children) + 10 miles + 2 hours ( run/walk x sightseeing ) = Ardrossan – Irvine = Fun
