Blisterproof is right, the vast majority of it is following the canal down to London. I had doubts for a short while last year after one of the few (only?) bridge crossings I carried on down and didn't see another runner for a while, I think that was where the sign was moved and I just carried on down the correct route.
Thank you for all your kind and reassuring words It doesn't seem so scary any more... I just got a bit overwhelmed as it's my first marathon and I'm not quite sure what to expect... Plus I'm that type who worries too much about imaginery problems
Pam, even if I pick up speed over the next few months I expect I'll be taking this one slowly as I want to save my legs for Berlin so would be good to run with you again (we ran together for a few miles early on last year).
I am am running Boddington Marathon in a couple of weeks so after that I will have a better idea of what time I might run on this race. It would be great to run with you but I will probably have to jog/walk.
Entered this yesterday after stumbling across the thread. I run the canal frequently - either joining at the bottom from Regents canal or at Picketts lock and running north or south. It is quite narrow in places, although i see they have kept the field to 350 places, so hopefully this should be ok.
Ive been off running since end of may when i got a dodgy blood result, 5 days before i was due to run the Comrades Ultra - however it meant a nice holiday in south africa Just waiting to get further tests, and waiting for chest infection to clear before training again.
Looking forward to this - ill be on the bus to the start too!
Really sorry to hear that you missed the Comrades, would it have been your first one? I did the down run in 2003, my favourite event out of 133 Marathon/Ultras.
My foot is much better now,i've been up to three runs a week and long run of 10k without any pain so, so far so good. Not a lot of time to train so i'm not totally sure i'll make it to the start line but i will give it a go and see how the training goes. I've decided not to follwo a structured plan but to to three runs a week and try and get a long run in each week and increase the distance steadily and hope for the best! Hopefully around 5hours...
Should i be worried that i havent heard anything from the organisers since i paid my money via this site? or will teh details from them come nearer the time?
No cause at all for concern, vs4b. Most race organisers do not send things out until about a month before the event, ans we have still got three months to go.
I think all (?) of the important information is already on the website and arn't things going to be delt with during registration on the morning. Perfectly natural to worry, I do.
Starting training (specific) on Monday. London Tri as a break in August and lots of 5k races dotted about. Aiming for a 15 mile run once a week. A few longuns and that should do it!
i was worrying too, havent seen my cheque cashed yet, i wouldent want to miss out as it sounds a good run, no one seems to answer the emails if you send to the site
Yesterday I sent an Email (via their site) to the 2ToGo organisers, wondering about stuff. I did get a reply today which I think is prompt and it does reassure me that all's well with the organisation of the race. Hope this helps.
they have got back to me as well, so all sorted now, thats a relief........i thought the training was tough in the cold but trying to run in this heat is really difficult, it has to be early morning or late evenings from now for a while
Gil will be driving up early and parking at Hackney.
Last year I stayed in the Docklands Travelodge and caught the race bus from Stratford but did not have sufficient breakfast and was hungry during the race so I expect I will go with Gil this time.
Last year I stayed on my own in the Docklands Traveloge and caught the race bus from Stratford. Unfortunately I didn't eat enough breakfast and was hungry during the race so I guess I will go up with Gil this time.
No problems with parking at Hackney over the years - although the coach journey to the start seems a long way, especially as you know you have to run back again.
