And you really need to wash your legs.... or are those....yes they are...

Oh dear oh dear Jacasaurus.  I bet you are praying Jane Askey keeps turning up. I wont tell anybody how old she is if you dont image

On the upside thats the flat bit over with for a couple of days there is just a wee hill to look forward to tomorrow and the really good news is the race is east lomond and not arsus verticus.  The 1st time I did it I was watching the leaders up the hill and wondering when they came to the fork in the path whether they would go left or right and they went staight up the front up the steep bit.  As a word of advice just walk up the steep way.  Zigzagging is even slower!!!!!!  Enjoy image

Well I got to work today to say that the bloke who normally does my sats but said he catagorically couldn't do next sat left me a note to say he can work next saturday afterall.  In other words I could have done the full Tour if I wanted to.  Unfortunately as I didn't do yesterdays it was going to be equally pointless for me to join you lot today image

On the upside I get to leave superdrug one day earlier imageimageimageimageimage

Thanks for the tip on tonight's race Caniggia.  I need any help I can get!

I'm gonna be walking up anyway so the quicker route seems like the best plan to me!! But c'mon, come and join in, it's great fun (or something image  )  Good news about leaving work earlier - bet you're gonna miss them though image

Ah yes the lang soaks worked a treat last night Markk I'm pleased to report. Much better run, no stitch, no whining, all good image  Tonight on the other hand, well, who the heck knows!!!!

See ya up there SueW image

Oh and hey I met Jac yesterday. She's much taller in her photo image  See you up there too Jac image

Hello all, well I'm on forced rest now.  Been at the gym the past three nights doing strengthening exercises but hip still really bad. Was planning 20 miles on bike tonight but think I will just have to make do with a gentle walk.  Am getting concerned about hip but will try rest and see if it makes a difference.  No running till the weekend then... boo hoo.

PS unlike JAC I am still gnoome sized although hard to believe given that my picture makes me look like an Amazonial Godess!!image

hmmm....reocurring Gnome theme in the hoose.....

All the best to tonight's runners image.

Considering a 5 mile trail race tomorrow if my knee twinges don't re-appear image.

God I am bored, bored, bored.....and in desperate need for a decent run but just cant be arsed facing the dreadmill tonight unless a gun is put to my head.

Went for a leaving bash last night which turned out to be in an Indian resturant but not your average high street eatery, but a place where the local Indians go... which meant the damn place was dry i.e. no booze.

First time I've been to a leaving diner and not bounced off the walls when leaving. Needless to say I had to have a skinfull when I got back to the hotel to get over the shock. That and the god-awful authentic Indian sweet I was tricked into eating - imagine road grit and sugar wraped up in  a plant leaf that no mater how hard you chew just stays in your mouth....image

Threatened to saw the table legs off my co-workers desk in revenge.

Good luck to everyone touring Fife tonight.

Hells bells bedhaped its only day 2.  Just had a look at the piccies from Fife and you look like you have aged about 20 years since the Dundee half.  image

Bit worried there were 2 pics of grass growing before jac came into shot but at least she looks like she is enjoying life more than Bedshaped image

Apparently there is a pop concert being held in Ethiopia tonight to raise money for poor runners from Fife.  Most of them have only enough money to afford one running vest and have to wear it every day of the Tour of Fife.  Jac as someone who has brought a range of kit have you started to notice its getting a bit wiffey even before the races start. image

At least tomorrow is a rest day.  24 hours to stiffen up completely is just what you need at this point he he he image

I went out for a run tonight and it was brutally windy as always in Carnoustie I hope it wasn't like that at the top of the east lomond hill although I suspect it probably was.  It would have even been hard coming down the hill into that wind tonight never mind going up!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about coming for a wee trot on the beach on Thursday night although I'd feel like I was gatecrashing the party by that point. image

Jac was on fire tonight she has moved up a place!!!!!!!! image

Bedshaped be afraid...image....be very afraid......imageimageimage.... The fightback's on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! image

  • Options

Geezo Caniggia where the hell did you find THAT??!! Man I look stupid scary.

I've moved up too thanks for noticing image  although I ran like a donkey tonight!!

Rest day, bollox to that, I'm still running tomorrow!!

West Lomond hill BTW and yeah it was darn windy. Don't forget your mankini for the beach image

  • Options

West Lomond!!!!!!!!!image Fife AC must be going soft in its old age.  The west one barely warrants the term "slightly undulating" in comparison to the other one. image

Bedshaped if you think that photo was bad look at the one before.

You have got jowls like Churchill in that one lol!!!!!!

</a>I think it might be the poofy lang soaks.  Its causing a wild excess of lactic acid to rush from your ankles to your face. Yer pus looked knackered but your legs felt great!!!!!! image

Bedshaped I couldn't exactly remember where you were after day 2 whereas it was a lot easier to spot that Jac wasn't quite as far down the page as she was. image

    Nitey nite image

aye the lang soaks make me look bad but they made me run better. oh heck, i'm gonna regret being up this late in the morning!!! Also nitey nite image

    Morning all!

Found gun last night and pressed it to my head and forced myself to use the dreadmill. After 4 miles found out gun wasn't loaded and opted for a blast on the bike instead...

Had a look at the photos above - what's it like having your mum running the races Bedshaped? image

Back home tonight. Can safely say that after ten years of this lark, the novelty has well and truely worn off. Man, I need another holiday.

    Hellooooooooooooooooo - anyone home today?

Can, you are a cheeky beggar!  Had me totally giggling though! image

    Good evening everybody,

Well done on reaching your computer Jac you must be in better nick than Bedshaped lol image

I've decided against running tomorrow night.  I would just feel like a fraud turning up and running an easy flat stage when you lot have all been slugging your guts out all week.  May pop over and say hello on Friday night if I'm finished early/escorted from the premises at the end of my last shift or Saturday if its a nice day. image

Have lots of fun tomorrow and remember ye well my 3 top pieces of advice when you get to the far end of the beach...............

    1. Run in other folks footsteps..........literally!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hard bit on the beach run comes when you sink into really soft fluffy sand.  If the folk in front of you have already been nice enough to get rid of the fluffyness it would be rude not to use the sand they have already battered down for you. image  Early in the race and on way in go close to the water to get the loverly hard wet sand.

2, Wear flat road trainers rather than trail ones.  Trail ones just sink into the sand and give you a kind of grip you dont really want.

    3. Keep the water on your right on the way out and the left on your way back.  If you get it wrong you will end up in Leucars or Denmark!!!!!!!!!!!!!! image

Morning all! Off to the Outlaws for a few days image On the plus side, the runs along the Antrim coast are really good image

Nice to see that Bedshaped has at least washed her lang soaks image

Morning all, not a happy gnoom, my hip was getting better but I foolishly went to pilates and now know what caused the problem in the first place.  Has set me back yet again so still not been for a run.  Am going to consign myself to the sofa for the next two evenings and hope that I can get a "test" run in on Saturday ahead of doing my long run on Sunday.  If I can't run this weekend my training schedule for Kielder is s****d and I will be a very very unhappy gnoom and possibly a lot fatter!

Can - thank you so much for the beach tips!  You really should be running this though and show us how it should be done! image

Markk - where in Antrim are you heading to?  You're right - fabulous runs everywhere!

Scharm - loving the gnome!  Hope the 2 days rest help your hip.

You are such a cheeky beggar Caniggia image

And who says I've washed my lang soaks? They're merely airing image  And if it rains enough the vest will be borderline fresh image

Take it easy SCharm. No more pilates!! It's not good for you!!!

    Happy hols Markk image

Be good to see you friday Caniggia. Wait a minute tho, did you not come and laugh yourself silly at last years's up hell????

My least favourite race tonight! Apart from tomorrow that is image

Aye, Bedshaped, he seems awfy good at dishing out the advice (and the slagging) when he's no' takin part!!! image  Can, get yours up that Arsus Verticus on Friday night and stop poncing aboot!! image

My recollection of last year's uphell time trial are somewhat different from yours Bedshaped.  As far as I remember I spent the best part of 2 hours standing IN a raincloud providing encouragement and handing out chocolate to weary runners.  I was feckin soaked waiting for you all to get up that there hill.

Advice for the uphell time trial................image.......................Er..........image.........em......................image.............. .Nope not got any I hate H words and have been absolutely sh!te at it on 3 previous occasions. image

I've tried just doing what I can in year one and running out of puff, death shuffle in year 2 and intervalsin year 3 and all of them have got me up equally slowly.  Having said that I breezed up it last year and had lots of va va voom to spare when I got to the TV mast.  I did it in a renault clio imageimage

1 day to go at Superdrug. This time tomorrow I'll be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  The locum booked for monday called off today thanks to a better offer.  Dont know where they will find another pharmacist at such short notics pmsl.  Oh what a shame!!!!!!!! imageimageimageimageimage

No jacasaurus on the results tonight I think she might have not taken my advice and got lost. imageimage

Enjoy your authentic danish bacon butties in the morning. image

On the upside you will be refreshed for the uphell time trial now image

Afternoon all from Northen Oireland where it's pishing down at the moment.

Jax I am between Bangor and Donagdee, so get some good runs going towards Groomsport and beyond. Went out last night after a day of going stir crazy between the car and ferry for a 6 miler which was good fun.

Bedshaped my idea of a good holiday is getting on a plane this Monday coming and leaving OH and kids here for a week - peace, quiet and the chance of a couple of long runs looking good for next week image

Can - hope you finish today and walk out with your head held high, flicking a V-sign over your shoulder as you walk in to the sunset.

  • Options

Afternoon all, pishing down here in Leeds Markk.  Going to run tomorrow, just a short one to see how hip behaves am still hoping to do a fell run on Sunday!

Can - I second Markk's sentiments - give it to them!  I will be flicking more than a V sign when I am forced out of my job, and my note to the incoming b*****d's will not be quite so polite as the one left at the Treasury!!!
