4m of awfulness (although the views of the Cumbrian coast were incredible) Tight calfs made the entire run a nightmare. New shoes o'clock for me.

A lovely 6.5 miles today along the coast from Cwmtydu to Cei Bach by New Quay with the lovely Barry for the Coasters!!

Had to run off with vigour as I knew the camera was pointed at me so soon regretted the fact that my leg had a vertical start.....

A rare post from the thread originator!

8.87m 1:25:33
A lovely run out in the early West Miidlesex area. Started off in the early morning light with a gentle trot that really never felt like it got any faster. As ever it is about distance and endurance. ran in the service roads all the way with the exception of the last section of the Ickenham shops which is dug up. A very slow 22+ minutes at the ped lights. Bit of a puff at the breakspear roundabout and also a dodge through some pavement diggings there too. Drifted in to uxbridge from the A40 and Oxford Road. Lovely sunshine by this time and half way up Helly hill I decided to run around Coney Green, that was lovely. A slow plod down to the library but i diod muster up a push down the home straight.
Lovely!

You have an excellent memory, Enrico image I've been running daily since June 2007, simply because I can!

Good luck with your race tomorrow - here's hoping for a fast time image

7.4 miles of trail & beach this afternoon on the coast north of Liverpool. Beautiful sunshine, quite warm and fine views of N. Wales too!

Hi Folks,

Just returned from the New Forest Half; went round in 1.30.10; very excited about that, although also a bit disappointed with missing the 1.30.00 mark. Pushed in the last mile to get there but just fell short. That said, absolutely chuffed with how well my running is going. Fastest HM time for about 12 years.....

Well done Dutch, excellent time!

11 miles today in 1 hr 45 which is the furthest I have been. It still felt quite easy. Only 2 more long runs now before the Bridlington half. I am starting to feel more confident as the miles are increasing.

My first contribution be kind!

Training for the Amsterdam marathon in three weeks which is pancake flat I am told. So off I went to the bitter North East Coast to follow the Cleveland Way from Whitby to Saltburn. 20miles and it took me 3hrs 20mins. Undualting was not the word and the wind was in my face the whole way. I only had road shoes on and now I am aching like a b*****d. Have I been daft and done too much or will I benefit in three weeks time on the flat?

Nice one Alib; sounds like you'll be fine for your HM

Chewie: wow that's rapid! Well done, and same to Jay F. Speed merchants!

Nice one Compo: hmmmmm, bacon sandwiches.....

Keyboard Warrior: yeah, should be flat. I've done the half a number of times, and support through the city is really good. I'd say that a big effort three weeks prior to a M'ton should be reasonably safe, even if the state of your feet means you'll do a bit less between now and then. Good luck!

Keep it going Swittle! Looking forward to you hitting the next big benchmark...

Cheers, Dutch - cracking time for a demanding course image

Jay F - you are flying!! Well run indeed image

After yesterday's tortuous effort, I was reluctant to go far and put off running until 7.30pm as dusk fell. At the Coastguards' Station in Blundellsands, I dropped onto the beach in virtual darkness, switching to the prom at Crosby Baths. Surprising who you meet in the dark! Walkers, shadowy figures and a pick-up truck image Anyhoo, 7.5 miles in 64 minutes and a huge boost to my confidence. It was as if I'd had lungs & legs transplant! image

Ran the New Forest Marathon yesterday in a new PB time of 3:23. This gave me a position of 45th out of 496, so all in all am pleased with my result.

Well done to everyone else out racing yesterday.

Hi,

Newbie to the forum so hello everyone!

Just started training for a 10k in a few weeks and a HM in November. So far my training runs and times have been as follows:

5 miles = 32mins

10 Miles = 1:09mins

As I am a newbie I just wondered how these compare to other peoples times?

• Options

Dutch: conditions out the Forest I thought were perfect for running. A bit cold standing around at the start, but once running soon warmed up, and then found myself tipping water from the cups over my head at nearly every water stop to cool down.

I had a look at the results for the half as my mum run it, and have to say, my word the speed the bloke who won it ran! totally awesome.

Welcome, Gohomergohard. Those are highly respectable times imho. Projecting, a sub-40 min. 10K is decidedly on and around 1:30 for the half. Long, long time since I got anywhere near those image
