I couldn't resist as the route virtually goes past my house, and covers the majority of my training routes...pretty flat overall, a mixture of urban and rural, including Dunham Massey. Should be fun!
I'm in. Using it as a training run before attempting coast to coast in June. Whitehaven to Sunderland, 5 days, 5 marathons + Live just outside Manchester so got to support home marathon in Olympic year!
North Deven is a great marathon but as hard as they come, i ran it in 2010 in very hot weather! I have entered this one and looking forward to a nice flat marathon for a change!
my 5th marathon at Chester I have done 3 blackpool ones and chester last year and everything was spot on from start dead on time to locals giving us jelly babys I will be wearing my t-shirt from last years race blue/white hoping for 3 h30 got under 4 hours last year just 3h59
It's my 6th in Chester. I'm also trying for sub 3.30 but I'm not sure if I'll make it this time due to intermittant injury in training. Thats why I'm lookIng at manchester. If I fail to break 3.30 at chester I hope to do it here. Good luck in Liverpool @15West. See you in chester @Compo 1. Let's hope this heatwave is over by then!
Have entered even though I'm in London through GFA. So that'll be two marathons in two weeks. The Manchester one does go past my house, so can pop in for a quick lie-down and cup of tea if it's all too much.
Possibly! Have done two in three weeks before but on this occasion I don't think I could put up with a marathon going past my front door without actually running it and I'm not looking at deferring my London place...so two in two it is!
No London place for me either. I think I will sign up for this too as my frist marathon, back to my home city.
Only thing that concerns me is that I will be too slow for this size of race (training going well so far for a 4.00 finish which I know is rather slow), Not sure if I would be better suited to a larger marathon as to not finish completely last.
I have 6 months still to train so I should be ok, I have come a long way this year already. Am I just being overly concerned? What do others think?
Hey Vwillis, 4 hours is a great time. This will be my 1st marathon and I'm looking at 3.45ish. There's no way you;ll be last with a time like that. There'll be 100s behind you. And you know what, even if you are.....so what ? Enjoy it.
Can you imagine if it goes through Wythenshawe ? You'll smash you're sub 4 if it does....(joke)
I have indeed signed up , I have 2 half marathonsbetween now and then to so training has been going on for a while and going well. I will stick with my plan and try to not put pressure on.
Good stuff. Which halves have you signed up to ? Wilsmlow is great as is Conwy in November. I'd also thoroughly recommend the Stockport 10 (miles) in December
I have the Brum half in 3 weeks, living in Wolverhampton - I am Manc though then 4 weeks before the Manchester Marathon I am going to do the Berlin half marathon, I will do a few 10k races when they come up as training sessions too.
Hey Berlin should be fantastic. Got Rivington (near Bolton) trail half marathon tomorrow, Conwy half in November, Stockport in Dec and Wilmslow Half in March. I was suppoed to be doing Chester marathon in October but got injured in Feb training for a Stratford upon Avon marathon. Slowly coming back now, and looking forward to Manc. Always good to do a Parkrun on a Sat to break up the long run monotony.
Wow you really have quite a running calendar there, good luck with them I'm sure you'll do great. Post a report of tomorrow let us know how you got on.
I'll be doing Wilmslow 1/2 - have done that last couple of years...good it is. Might do that stockport 10 - need something to aim for over the winter....and that seems to get pretty good reviews.
15 West, Stockport 10 is superb, oddest goodybag you'll ever see (go on youtune type in stockport 10 to see what I mean) great marshalls and a track start and finish with your name called out over the speakers as you ener the stadium. Good quality tech t-shirt, cheap and 2 very very hard hills
Does anyone know when the latest I could sign up for Manchester. I'm doing Brighton two weeks earlier (my first full marathon) and while I would love to do Manchester, I need to see how I feel nearer the time.

Hello all...just registered for this. Will be my 2nd marathon, running first one in just over a week.
Live pretty close to Longford Park - so be nice not to have to worry about transport/accomodation etc.
