The village biker boys are officially too fast and painful for me now. So count me in for something on 19th Nov. Any ideas re location yet?
Dustboy - I'm happy to join you on that loop every now and again in the run up to Outlaw. Can't do anything this weekend, though because I'll be xc-ing. It's been tooooo long since I've been on a pirate ride!
If anyone fancies exploring around Winchester, South Downs - or even something a bit flatter, let me know. We could start from my house - park at the village hall - and I promise cake and tea afterwards.
12th Nov (same day as Ballbuster) Saffers Ditchy Barley
19th Nov Saffers Ditchy Ferret Soup Dragon Trogs Dustboy (provisional) P Siggy & Siggy's Valet Benno!! (Provisional) Barley Nicko Golden Boots Katiecom AH
20th Nov Ditchy Ferret
26th Nov (non London Piratey Xmas do?) Saffers Ditchy
I'm up for some of these if I can now that Mr P is back home but will probably have to limit myself to the more easterly suggestions most likely due to the driving time - I'm an hour from the M25 and need to get on that in order to go anywhere really!
Garmin connect won't allow people to download other people's bike routes onto their computers and I CBA to download this onto my Garmin to upload it again. DB - it struck me though why you want the GPX when presumably you already have it?
GC courses also don't allow elevation profiles so it's just a crap Bing map for now.
I might try and join you for a bit, but won't do all of it if you're starting at Newlands - not keen on the hill back up, I've seen the way they drive round there!
Ditchy - that hill back up has always been fine for me. Trucks have normally avoided a few cyclists by the time they get to that section. Just keep DB behind you as a buffer.
That hill is etched in my brain as the first time I did as far as 65 miles. The one before that was the killer though. Needed emergency Kendal mint cake from WW to recharge my batteries and revive my will to live! But the chips made it all worthwhile.
Dustboy - what sort of distance are you planning for Saturday? Might bring a friend but timings for later in the day will come into it... Looking forward to it. Haven't done a piratey ride for SOOO long.
Just finalising the route & fuel stops now. Have to please Mr Smith don'cha know. It will be a beautiful route with plenty of time to take in the scenery.

This is a map of DB's crease.

I think that's one of the milder comments, yes.....
More than happy to put on a little mystery tour if peeps would like.
Or fit in however.
In fact, I have a lovely little route pencilled in my vacuous head that we have not done before, although peeps might recognise some of it early on.
Lord H would like to join us too if he can get childcare sorted and he has a little bit of new extra route for us.
Newlands Corner at 10am?
Don't forget to pack a creme egg for Smiffy.
