I did ok at the beginning of this year beating my 5k, 10k, 5mile but dont think I can get much better than them. I have been on the PB plateau for a while.
To be honest I fancy a bit of a change from the normal 10k road race type thing, been looking at race the train and man vs horse for next year. Even looked at some fell stuff but I live on the wrong side of Brum for it (they do a lot around Long Mynd).
Chris - I've been thinking along similar lines, in a way, but in relation to the maras. I think I'll carry on with the shorter stuff (and I can't see myself giving up the parkruns!) but maybe shift away from maras to either off-road stuff or ultras...
WBTom - welcome! West Brom Harriers? Never heard of 'em!
Most clubs are more than happy for potential new members to give 'em a try for a few weeks.
Eckytump, i'm doing the Kingsbury 10k i've just had someone offer to have the children for me ( my buddy worker was off sick for 2 days so to make up for it she's going to have the children so she doesnt lose her pay which is great for me )
i havent got any details for it tho, where are the details, i'm going to have to enter on the day tho as unless u can do online entry i'm not going to have time to send payment off
I did Cannock Chase 10K last week, it was bloody tough!! a huge huge hill in the first 3K plus i did it with a hangover lol ( and a serious one lol as my best friends bday the night before and it would be rude not to have a drink for it along with a curry!! ) so was pleased with 1hour 4mins, cos that first hill killed me, i ate jelly babies like they were going out of fashion lol
Hannahsmom Im guna enter on the day.If you look up KP events it tells you everything there. I will get there between 9-9.30 depending on weather so I have plenty time.
We have a couple of league races that are like that. The Burton 10k has a killer hill in the first mile. Thats a really good time with a Hangover.
thanks, i'm dropping my kids off at 9ish so wont b there till about 9.45ish ( think it takes about 40mins to get there from my house ) Where abouts u coming from?
which entrance is it best to go in, do u have to pay the gate barrier fee ( will need to get change ready if so ) or is the entrance over the otherside?
will google KP events as no idea where to look for that, do u want to meet up at all ( seeing as i have missed meeting u at the Bham half lol )
i might phone up tomorrow and just check that the race isnt full, hopefully its not, i entered cannock chase one and there were only 200 runners and it says there limit is 500 runners so hopefully it wont be full, have u ran it before?
Eckytump & HannahsmomUK - I'm doing the Kingsbury run too. Havn't done this one before but I think they usually have someone on the barrier who lets the runners through for free - hope thats the case on sunday! Hoping to get my first sub 50 mins but who knows! Good luck to you both.
yes ok i'll meet u by the registration tent then, i'll be wearing my Birmingham Childrens Hospital Red Vest ( although if its cold i'll be wearing my neon green/yellow tracksuit top as well, i also will be wearing a water bottle round my waist
Rich H 25 wanna meet up too before the event to say hello ( i'm not going to be running with u lol, ur far too fast for me but i do like running by myself anyway )
i heard it was really bad weather last year, is the course fairly flat do u know Eckytump?
sounds good to me, i'm still recovering from my cold so not run at all this week lol, i may try and do a short 2miler tomorrow nothing to strenuos so i'll be ready for sunday
I feel like Im coming down with one.Lots have it at work so I have been trying not to breathe.I just hope it holds off till Mon.
I will maybe just do a little plod on Sat with my Daughters as they have decided to come with me now.We dont go very far or too fast so I wont do too much damage.
HannahsmomUK - yeah, I'll keep an eye out for your red vest! I'll probably be wearing my white Lichfield 10K top and black shorts unless it's really cold!
Hannahsmom I did the Cannock chase 10k last week too! it was a tough race and with the added bonus of a hangover ouch! Good time, I think the fog helped as you couldn't see the tops of the inclines (don't like the word hills)
Is anyone doing the Snyed Striders 10 miles on 11th Dec??

Arley Barley ??????????
However, I can confirm that she was indeed smiling at least by the time I arrived, though that technically was after she'd had time for a coffee...
And I've never heard of arley barley either...
Ah, right. Yes, we used to use similar phrases up here. Depending on the precise circumstances, we'd call it either 'chickening out' or 'cheating'...
Brand new shiny PB for me yesterday!
Me too, however I have never ran a 8.18miler before,,,lol
10k - the Abbey Dash, in Leeds. Knocked 53 secs off, and went sub-40 for the first time.
Well done on yours, too - they all count! I don't think I'll ever beat my 1/3-marathon time, set in April 2009...

I am on the waiting list for the J.W Ultra which is 30.It finnishes in Birmingham I think.
Is anyone doing the Kinsbury 10k this weekend. Im gutted I wont be able to do the Pudding Run now so will have to make do with that.

We are just up the road in Tamworth so it will only take 5 mins.
Would be good to meet up. I will wait around by the registration tent. I will be the one with the kids who will be fighting cos they are bored.lol.
I may put my Tamworth AC vest on so you can spot me.I usually wear it for these ones.
I dont think it will be full.I did it last year and I dont think there were more than 200 ish although the weather was very bad.

Hi Rich it is a really nice one. Last year was so waterlogged and it poured down but it was fab.One Woman had Mud right up to her Bra.lol.
Most of it is flat but there are a couple of steep but very short hills which you have to do twice. Its nothing Horrendous though.
I feel like Im coming down with one.Lots have it at work so I have been trying not to breathe.I just hope it holds off till Mon.
