Best of luck to everyone on Sarurday, I'll be crewing the registration desk at Richmond Town Hall and the aid station at Cookham so I'm sure I'll get to say hi in person then.
Just want to add a scream to this blog as that's how Im now feeling this morning aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh
This is it guys!! See you at the start..best of luck to everyone, and thanks for all the useful info during the past few months, this forum has been invaluable!!
looking at the weather forecast for the weekend sunglasses are not going to be needed. dilemma as to road shoes all the way or change to trail at half way point as the rain makes parts of the path increasingly muddier.
Off work today so I can sort out drop bags and kit and consider shoes one last time .
Shorts,tights,shorts, tights,shorts, tights ? only outstanding issue.
I would like to reinforce PP,s comments, although i,m not a big user of forums generally, being part of this one has been great, its been a real benefit and helped me through a very lonley winters training.
Here we are guys. I can't quite believe it has finally arrived. Waiting for taxi now to come in less than an hour to takeme to the train station. Looking forward to meeting you all in the flesh. Just hope i have remembered everything!!!! Good luck everyone and i look forward to reading all the post race posts x
The sunglasses are prescription with photochromatic lenses so are fine in the dark. I'll have a pair of tights in my Henley drop bag for the overnight section, I plan to stop to change socks and check my feet there anyway. Also have a bright yellow top in that bag.
Good luck to everyone.A big thank you to the organizers, marshals, spectators supporters bystanders dog-walkers fishermen lock-keepers joggers shop-keepers car park attendants in fact everyone who is going to be out there tomorrow along the Thames Path. When we cross may all our fortunes be blessed.
Good luck everybody! Settled in the hotel, nice cup of tea and after a trawl through London with all of my baggage I'm finally relaxed. Managed to meet up with Vicky for dinner and out taxi to the start is booked for 8am. See you all tomorrow and sleep well! )
And they're off. Registration done and saw them off just as it started to drizzle lightly, off to Cookham now to feed and water them as they come through
Just been tweeted that the event has been stopped before everyone has finished due to adverse weather!! I was 'following' someone who was only 7 miles from finish when they got pulled from the course!
Chris after 24 hours plus out on the course in all kinds of weather some of the runners may have been in danger of becoming hypothermic, I know how much James put into this and there's no way he would have stopped the race unless it was absolutely necessary
Just got home from marshalling there and the weather progressively getting worse, was trying to snow all night. I don't know the current weather but I am sure James made the correct decision based on current conditions. One guy had already slipped into the Thames and another idiot had turned up without a jacket! Fortunately someone lent him one during the night. A few people didn't even appear to have headtorches. For some of the guys left on the course I think the decision will protect them from themselves!
A real shame for James as it was a great race with some fantastic runners, and as you would expect, was incredibly well organised.
Comments
Looks like it is going to rain on Sunday morning.
Think of it as a penalty clause for people taking more than 24 hours!

Think its Oxpens Field, Oxpens Rd.... Oxford.... Failing that the check point at Mile 95 is Radley College Boathouse, lower Radley - OX14 3AZ
Winner through the finish now - Craig Holgate in 15.11...... Mental!
positive vibes to all still on the course
Hope everyone else is going well
Must be more than that to call it off? Or H+S gone mad?
