Smiley Lady getting her nose broken in the IMCH 2009 swim, a week after she had done IM Frankfurt and still posted a time that most of us could only dream of!
This is just making me more depressed that I'm missing Outlaw
IMDE 2006 - "ah, oi'll just do the swim and bike into town and jack it in" as he was suffering with a knackered knee. 226km later.....
IMFL 2007 - still with knackered knees "Oi'll do the swim and then I'm off shooting with Earl". which he did - telling Earl that his lady - aka Smiley - was off shopping for the day when she was hammering around the IM course. ffs...
I'm sure that Mon would not wish to be reminded that I nearly punched her lights out at the start of the IMCH 2005 swim - we started next to each other and first strokes in the water, I nearly took her jaw off. ooops...
I do remember that, worse was at IM germany when I was being repeatedly hit over the head by one bloke during the swim, he knew I was there and made no adjustment to his postion so I stopped and smacked him in the back of the head. Halfway round the boat I I happened to be next to another pirate and we rurned to each other and said "this is bloody stupid" plunged back in and carried on. Who was that?
Me and Carl also swam out and pirate stickered the marker buoys the day before. Dave and I went out painting the road with stencils and just got back as the torrential downpur started so they were all washed away.
Just realised that might sound a bit dodgy so I shall explain. Mon and I were sharing a room, and because I wasn't racing there was room for us to look after Avalaf's bike. (He was in a more crowded room with several bikes.)
Mon and I share a penchant for colourful undies. So we thought it would be a good idea to drape our entire joint collection all over his bike. I wish I still had the photo.
And painting the road at Nice, panicking when the Gendarmes came along on their bikes and then realising how nice France is cos they only wanted to flirt with us!
I have to admit my favourite memory for Nice has to be GarrsmateNige.
After 6 months of sacrificial living and hard core training, he arrived all body-is-a-temple like. Not a drop of alcohol had passed his lips iin MONTHS. He was ready for his first Ironman and nothing was going to get him off course.
Within an hour of being amongst Pirate company.....
I also remember a training camp in the lakes ... 2006 i think ... when it rained and rained and rained ... casing the rooms to stink of wet sweaty training gear
and
Barlo took a bike group out and they got a bit lost ... i even think they had to get a ferry back ????
the outlaw should provide another set of brilliant memories....each year different people gain new memories......
the welsh national anthem being sang in tenby last year with thousands up on the cliff watching was amazing......my favourite memory of the day....we will forget the horrible memories of later on ....

Min - only coz you demanded that I be honest!
My best memory of you in Nice is bonding with you through our shared abject terror as Oxy drove six of us at breakneck speed through the mountains...

Zuppy and Smiley are well suited to each other
