slight change of topic but I may be testing out my open water swimming skills (or rather complete lack of ) in the North sea later this evening. It was nice meeting you all
NR - Here she is, she's acutally ligther than my cousins new posh road race bike so I'm hoping she will be just fine. Tubs make riding round our roads rather fun!
Oooo. Nice! I like the retro look.
Umm... Wasn't someone asking something about golden bikes over on another thread...

Boss.... not sure who's braver... you or Ali? I secretly suspect Ali knows what she is doing by swimming in the North Sea on the other hand your retort to Raf involving M...eldy.... well
please be more careful, we would like you to continue your mentoring of the team after next week!
Open water swim done. Did my usual 1600m circuit. Bonus tonight is i must have done a third of it front crawl, my furthest FC ever. I even felt comfortable, relaxed & didnt get out of breath, definite breakthrough. I think the rise in water temperature helped.
However, the disheartening part is i was actually just over 4 mins slower than when i do it nearly all breaststroke. Took me over 49 mins as opposed to 45mins.
We swam in the opposite direction round the bouys tonight & i was swimming further away from them than usual so i guess i may have actually swam further than the 1600m. More likely me FC is slower than my BS. grrrrr
Good work SD - speed will come mate, trust me right now I need to find a way to get slow and comfortable! Doesn't matter if it's slower you did good, a third FC!!!
Oh and can I remind you how panicked you were about swimming OW and cut off times not that long ago and now you are worrying about ?!?
Seriously mate well done, reflect on the positives
Rome wasn't built in a day SwimDog. Could have been some current, maybe the warmer water slowed you down a bit, etc. But look at how much FC you're doing!
I'll ditch the watch. I just needed reassurance i could make the 1.10 cut off time which i know i can now.
I'm going to try swim the OW IM distance for the first time on Saturday though so would like to know if i can do that in under 2.20. Or even swim the distance
IY. Never having done it before, I don't want to try too hard and put myself off doing it again! I know that coming off the bike after 15 miles, I feel I could run a wee bit. Suppose if I do that and it goes ok, I can up the distance next time
So far the best is "Big Bird" but not really doing it for me. I do admit to talking to my bike at times though. Such as the end of a long, hot ride. "I really love you but right now I want the ##$$& off you!"

That's brave of you.
At least in the North Sea you won't need to faff about getting into your wetsuit, what with it being so tropical.............................
And before you get any ideas, doing a Reggie Perrin will not get you off the IM 2013 list
Ahh you guessed my cunning plan. What about a Canoe man imitation instead? Except I'll leave a JetSki floating about rather than the Canoe?

RWD - I had noticed that thread but it's not about the spray paint on your bike. Well unless you've caused it to peal off I suppose. Yuck!
Is it bad luck to rename your bike though? As she's currently called Goldie and that thread has put me off the name somewhat!

Ohhh dear, oh dear oh dear oh dear ...
Should I been insulted or complimented I wonder.......
in the case of ending up with a bike called "gastank".... you should be so fekkin lucky!
It must be taper time ... I keep feeling the need to write lists
Of punishments for naughty boys?

I didnt lube myself up tonight so i wouldnt have been as slippery. I'll blame it on that.
SD ... what they all say
Ditch the watch for now, concentrate on a nice easy stroke and technique

Good going Dogfish. It will come if you just relax. I'm jealous cos I can't swim breaststroke!
Am planning on doing my first ever brick tomorrow (fanfare, drumroll). Does 15 mile bike & 3 mile run sound ok for a first time?
It's on the short side for a bike but a brick is a brick. You should understand the term brick when you take you first few strides
IY. Never having done it before, I don't want to try too hard and put myself off doing it again! I know that coming off the bike after 15 miles, I feel I could run a wee bit. Suppose if I do that and it goes ok, I can up the distance next time
Oh, IY, how's the bike naming coming along?

Evening guys,
SD well done on the swim, cant even contemplate that distance at the mo....
5k run tonight for me, clocked in just under 30 mins, which I was pleased with, now to up the distance
Plinsky, which book you gone for? ive just ordered the Fink book, heard good things
