Bonk & DNF A tough weekend, after bonking on the bike yesterday, due to lack of fuel on the ride whilst battling with the wind, hauling up hills in chilly conditions.
Today I managed just 5 of the 6 cross country miles in Corsham Challenge race, the soft sodden grass sapped the last of my energy.
Rest & recovery required tonight. Lesson learnt - don't forget to fuel on the bike- duh!
Red stripe..nutrition and fuelling is a big part of ironman training...lessons learnt early on should hopefully stop you suffering long term with fatigue etc.....
100 miler for me on the bike yesterday in wonderful conditions...pushed hard and felt knackered.....this mornings recovery run was hard work....
after next week going to get my swimming started as running and cycling seem to be coming together now
I managed 45 mile bike at the weekend - was in torrential rain for the first 1-2 hours - which pushed me to 10 hours of training last week. My biggest week to date! All looking good so far.
Very hot 15K run on the treadmill last night wearing a new top which my nipples found to be a lot rougher than I originally thought . They now glow in the dark.
I totaly sympathise, I did an 8 mile jog in new running tights on Saturday, they had a mesh type of crotch that acted like a cheese grater on my nads, and unlike me, I foolishly went without liberaly applying vaseline. I poped a bag of peas down there when I got in and went about my post run face stuffing with whatever was in the fridge and sort of forgot about the beetroot looking objects in my new stretchy pants, untill I lowered myself into a piping hot bath containing industrial strength radox bath salts, I had to be scraped off the ceiling.
We had pea soup that night....... I have gone right off beetroot
Yeah, cycled into work this morning, I sat at the front of the saddle for the first 10 miles before plucking up the courage to ease myself back, I have a cross country 10k tomorrow, I may choose the baggy shorts for that
Ouch! None of that sounds nice at all... A one hour 15 min run for me tonight. Longest run since my half last year... Starting to finally rack up some mileage
1500m swim in 45mins and my Poolmate tells me I've managed to get the number of strokes down. Humming tunes as I exhaled under water to alleviate the boredom.
Did my 1hr brick last night. Had planned run this morn but my body told me no stay in bed. Good news I have lost 6lbs of lard since Xmas. Chuffed with that. Bad news of skiing with 12 mates next week prob put 6lbs back on.
2k swim this morning. Feeling much better about my swimming now, to the point where I am actually enjoying it, rather than just going through the motions.
Technique still a bag of spanners, but at least I'm having fun.
early morning run here again.....will have 2 days without running ready for sundays race in amber warning conditions .wind and rain.....on a course known for flooding and exposed to the wind
I've decided to put some effort into swimming this year. 4 x IM swims with the fastest being 1hr 28 has made me focus! Fed up with coming out knackered and my bike all on its lonesome in transition.
Had a lesson and all's fine.. other than my legs sink, my stroke's too short, I'm not breathing properly and I scissor kick

Rubbish spin session Friday evening, severe case of CBA yesterday and a rubbish run today.
Next week can only be better.

JPG - Ouchey! Have you managed a bike ride since?
Maybe Seren will have some pearls of wisdom for you such as crotch-less tights or a foam cup?
Only one more 5K run and plenty of swimming to do this week as I've got the Gayton 10K on Sunday...I may or may not wear tights.
Yeah, cycled into work this morning, I sat at the front of the saddle for the first 10 miles before plucking up the courage to ease myself back, I have a cross country 10k tomorrow, I may choose the baggy shorts for that
Because Seren suffers from swollen and red testicles?
Pudge
You can tell you haven't meet Seren yet
You said that Pudge, not me...I'd like to keep my mine not have Seren wear them for earings.
Hide Pudge! Hide!
shouldn't you be out training.......
and never wear more than one layer of clothing around your bits.....male or female the more layers the more to rub.......
another hint,......to avoid nasty chaffing.don't pee in your shorts several times whilst running....
Swim swam this morning, and run will be ran tonight...
All remains on course, Seren, have no fear!

i ran once this week
did a T30 swim test last week - 1550m
I was happy with that. - not been in the pool since though
So that's 1550m in 30 minutes? That's good going!

another one 'enjoying' swimming!
2.5km at 75% RPE this morning.... definitely slowed towards the end!
