lol the car I'm thinking of replacing the current one with does 25% less to the gallon.....but my commute to work is on 12 miles now and not 40....and yes, I know that is cyclable distance but the roads are not good for that and we have no showers at work.
Ditchy - everyone else who owns a car like yours is over 60....my Mum has one! They have to think of their pensions
My car cost me £50 to fill up for the first time this morning as well.......but I got a 2 for 1 offer at the garage on choc milkshake so it wasn't all bad
Looks like the 1st May is the favoured option, unfortunately I won't be able to make that day as am taking my Godson out for his 18th birthday which should be fun!
£100 ?? You guys filling up the car itself or the just petrol tank ?
Diesel, 85 litres of the stuff, although it is supposed to take 90 litres.
However it will take a bike (wheels off) in the boot (it is a saloon), so bike and all tri gear can stay safely locked out of sight. And it can still seat 5!
UltraCas I do 17 to work with no shower, just pootle in at 14/15 and go home quick. Quick strip wash and change - seems to be OK.
Meface - it's not the distance, more the combination of busy roads and narrow lanes that are the problem but I'm only office based a couple of days each week so better to drive and save training for days when I work from home....talking of which I'm off for a lunchtime run
Somewhere several pages ago, before we got to slagging off everyone's cars, there was talk of a ride. Happychap (the apprentice Meldy) launched a coup on the democratically emerging event date, and seems to have engineered in to be on May 1st. Clearly she's scarier than Meldy!
So, May 1st it is then Who's up for it then, and who's going to lend me a slightly less crap MTB than mine ?
Actually I'd like to use the opportunity to hit Kanga for real, rather than just virtually. I thought it was just a threat and a joke this 'I'm selling up and moving half way across the world'.
I think I am meant to be at a stag weekend in Newquay, pretending to be an Australian. Any tips from the hallowed Antipodean one?
Drink VB, wear thongs aka flip flops, use a stubby holder, end every sentence with maaaaaayyyte, wear an Akubra and you're sorted. Oh and yell 'Aussie Aussie Aussie' every now and then. Extra points if you end every sentence with an inflection so you sound like you are asking a question.

Gas guzzlers! Mine was about £35 to fill when I bought it two years ago, so £50 is a big increase for me.

Well, that's true, although I did know two other triathlete types who had them too** - they are jolly good at having bikes chucked in the back!
**Pretty sure Melli and Meldy aren't over 60
I can get a bike in the back of my car too....ok both wheels have to come off but it does fit!
I don't think Melli is over 60 but you can never be too sure about bullying trolls!
A car that does 25% less mpg than the TT?
*Sigh* What with you and my preggers friend who is about to become an environmentally indefensible Chelsea Tractor Driver I despair.....

Cas, I'm pretty sure I sold you a car that does less to the gallon than the TT
It did and I gave that one away

You should get a nice Transit Connect. A million miles to the gallon* and you don't have to take any wheels off the bikes
* It seems like, I haven't filled it up for a very long time
You have one of these!!

I thought you were just coming for coffee. I was hoping to meet LMW ....and you and Pink of course.
Pink will bring LMW to Southwater so you can have a hug.
It's okay, you don't have to pretend you want to see us
I was speaking to a certain cake making lady today who said that all the kool kids would be on mtbs on the 1st May, so I might just have to join you.
I didn't want to say.

Snap - Mr P will be 21 again on the 1st May.
Given I'm going to the US on the 2nd for a week I think I will struggle to justify this one.
