Morning all. Just a quick note to thank all the supporters, on the course and on here.
Report will follow on due course, but whoever thought that the way to avoid people running along the beach at the swim start was to send 1500 of us straight out for 200 yards then turn sharp left wants a slap.
Comedy moment was Slag coming in as the last finisher, confetti, photos with the mayor, the lot, then just as all that's done someone else arrives in the finish chute...
Massive respect for everyone who got the job done yesterday - especially any Kona qualifiers - outstanding!! Very jealous, and hope that I can achieve similar one day in the future.
Full report later, this evening im mainly planning to sleep having got up at 4am to drive 4 hours home and work today
The support at Tenby was something else, ive never never ever ever been to a race and received such enthusiastic support on the course than yesterday, you couldnt go round a corner in the town without someone (or large crowds) screaming go pirate, so many other athletes supporting us, people hanging out of windows, up the out and back miles from town, all the villages on the bike course etc etc.
Thank you to those pirates supporting yesterday and commiserations to button mushroom and Hokori, I hope youll join us at another even soon.
I shall not be gracing the start line of IMW again, although I'll have lorry-loads of respect for anybody who does (as well as a straight-jacket and the men in white coats) . I could not believe the support and positivity from the lovely folk of Tenby, Saundersfoot, Narberth and the villages. Pretty much the entire community was out partying, boozing, barbequeing, celebrating and cheering from the rafters. Bloody big hats-off to the lot of them. Them and the unremitting misery of the race will be my enduring memories (plus a couple of bits I'll save for a race report).

I don't imagine that me blanking you completely when I went past without spotting you helped, then sorry about that. I know what you mean though, once it started raining on the bike I was just counting down the miles to the end.
Race report to follow ... but what an awesome weekend again.. Especially loved the premature "last finisher " celebration lol .. clearly they hadnt anticipated that amazing last lap turn of speed moving me up 2 places .. I hope the guys behind me got their moment with Tenbys mayor as well.
first couple of pirate pics from flikr .. i think we have a cheerful , stil and bobbynobby ?
Ha ha, So, N.C. aka Slag...I was at the finish hoping to help the poor last finishers look less dead through energetic cheering (too fat/unfit for much else) for their moment of glory in finishing their torture ( I am NOT an Ironwoman, in awe of you all), but heard the SA guy and Irish lady several times tell us all where you (NC) were, and that you were the last one in etc...I had to get up at 4.30 am so quit at 11pm and was heading home and met you trotting along (looking most cheerful amazingly enough!!) in Tenby town nearish the end and asked if you were NC, you were most surprised some total stranger knew your name...I hope I helped warn you what was to come!! Confetti hey!! And some guys actually behind you! Hilarious! Big respect from all us non runners, what an achievement And a hug from the mayor too hey ha ha
Well done guys! Great to catch up with everyone and meet pirates I've not met before. Was in transission from about 8-6 which is a great way to get involved and catch up with everyone. Bloody hard work, harder than doing the race I reckon
Loved the mike guy shouting over the tanoy that the last competitor was Slag and giving him the finishers welcome .. then the next couple of guys coming in ... brilliant!
Haha thanks Hannah , yes I remember speaking to you and being a bit surprised at the news ... But figured they must have been updated on changes.. My escort cyclist had been regularly updating control as I stormed (lol) through the other back markers.
Really appreciated the conversation and banter from the amazing volunteers and supporters in Tenby and around the course. It's the atmosphere that you all create that kept me and many of the others "looking most cheerful" as we lolopped around. Well that and the fact that we are all a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
Awesome weekend, I fecking loved that race, but boy was it hard.
Full race report will follow in a couple of days, when I have come down.
Meet the Mayor this morning before we left and I did say that the people of Tenby deserved a medal because their support was just the most amazing thing I have experienced

Well done all, we did shout at all pirates, but as we weren't in pirate gear only Barley recognised us.
Hope those hoping for a slot got it.

Well done to all who took part in IMW. Bumped into a few Pirates on the course and IronPingu in transition. Great support. Hell of a course!

Congratz all the took part in the race. I was bloody knackered after and I was only supporting so god knows how you lot feel.
In the bag/rucksack they gave us at registration I found a small ceramic brick, anyone any idea what its for and did everyone get one?
