lol... unfortunately our roads are mainly just littered with dog shite and broken WKD bottles . Gotta love essex .. where no street is quite complete without its Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Alcopop swilling kids
Well its a glorious day in sunny lancs today. Unfortunately bowl of mussels and three glasses of white wine in the pub garden this lunchtime has scuppered my long run this weekend . Ah well, how often does the sun shine on a Sunday!!!!?? At least I got my bike ride in yesterday.
50 miles cycled in the glorious sun with 3000 ft of climbing and average of 13.8 mph. It's still slow, but I'm getting better! Even managed to get a bit of a comedy tan and you can't normally say that in March!
After sleeping off jet-lag Friday I did a very short bike fri night. Saturday morning was a 10mi LSR down in Planet Thanet. Weekend's long bike will be done tomorrow on my day off, back in time for Little Miss Cat5's birthday.
so...managed a 30 ride on saturday....1400ft climbing...on the imuk loop...completely bonked though at about 24 miles so limped it home...not a good ride for me but not the first time...all part of the process again.
did a flattish (535ft climing) 23 miles today....managed an avg of 15.5 but was just enjoying the sunshine and the ride so i'm pretty happy...no bonking either (had breakfast this time and no beer last night)
back problems well behing me now and i've even had a better march than i did last year so i'm feeling ok!!
Its now official - I'm out. Got a refund today and I'm feeling its the right thing at this stage. Strangely not too disappointed, just glad to have made a final decision that I'm comfortable with. I'll see you all at the feed station so good luck with the training. I'll be an Outlaw next year instead.
My ride on Saturday was 37 miles, took it steady as it was a new course I'd invented!! Av speed 12.7 mph, but felt I was tootling along, I know I could have pushed it harder (hrm back that up), included 1800 ft climbing. It was a lovely ride, so I'm going to extend it for this week's long ride, with an extra climb up Waddington Fell! Can't wait!!! Extra loop should add about 15 tough miles.

Hey Soupy, havent read back for the history, but gutted for you mate. Same time next year then
I'd love to stay in touch on the thread. I enjoy reading how everyone is getting on and it will motivate me to keep on biking and swimming to train for the Vit which is now my A race. Hopefully that will give me a good base for next year too. I've had so many DNFs and DNS this past 12 months that I'm determinded to good put in a good performance there (well not last or next to last like the previous 2 years). So I won't be a couch potato just yet.
Schmunkee doing Outlaw 2013........hehehehe. Could do a relay?
Coached Open Water Swim Sessions will start again in May with subsequent weekly sessions taking place on either a Wednesday or Friday at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont Nottingham. There is a full schedule on the website at www.absolutetri.com and registration is even easier this year as you can complete on line as well as pre-pay.
Coached by award winning Level 3 Triathlon Coach Steve Lloyd, these technique based sessions are a must for both the beginner and experienced Triathlete covering all the essential aspects of successful & confident open water swimming.
Due to a whopping 67% price increase from the National Water Sports Centre we have had to adjust our prices accordingly, however we are passionate about providing quality, safe and most importantly fully coached sessions and still feel that the centre is by far the best place to achieve this.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.

No! Schmunkee won't be doing IM anytime soon. Will do European 70.3 early in the year and then thinking of doing this later in the year. Minimum swimming standard is a sub-40 1 mile pool swim, so only need to knock 10 mins off. Easy peasy
Hope you don't mind me jumping in here but just wanted to let you all know that we have a live web chat at 1pm with Ironman Mark Kleanthous. If you have any questions, post them now: here's a link to the thread

You know what those kids are like nowdays!
Slagiatt- at least I know how long I have to get over a cold that has gone to my chest. Thanks to you, my wibble will be small and discrete.
Off now to adjust training plan to what may be possible.
At least I got my bike ride in yesterday.

Dont think we'll be back over too soon Soupy, so plenty of time to train yet
Entries are still open for IM Cairns in June if you've got a shed load of money for entry, airfares, and crocodile repellent ....
Just been to the physio and she's referred me for a scan on my shoulder...if it comes back bad news then i'm gonna have to pull out!!!
right now i'm gutted...but holding onto hope that the scan shows nothing sinister
