The Time Machine is one of my all time favourites (though it's too dated to enjoy it now). If that classes as Sci-Fi then I must like some types. It's the inter galactic stuff I can't get into- doesn't seem believable and leaves me a bit cold. Pulp fiction is another favourite but I skip over the violent bits.
hmmm ... thats what i was thinkin DLR, but the emails/code came in - i did it and got confirmation that €66 is being charged to my card (didnt bother with the 20 euros for the tshirt malarkey) - its all about the medal and the spiritual experience for me.
You can buy the t-shirts at the Expo in Berlin if you want one anyway. I got my finisher t-shirt before having run the race, which felt a bit like tempting bad luck.
I got my email too!!! But I obviously didn't get there quick enough as 90 euros although it did say 60 on my screen!!
I am home from work early feeling awful.
Now for the doc's in here - Does anaemia make you cold?? Work was so cold today that I had blue lips and couldn't feel my hands or feet, then dizzy and felt like my heart was racing??? Now that I am home in front of the fire and starting to warm up I am starting to feel better???
Kaz.. just rest up and let your body recover.. there is no training benefit to doing anything right now... you have enough going on in your life... so, just take this opportunity for a bit of rest...
I probably favour the mr_maj approach though the older I get the less interested I am in 'upsetting' films. Possibly as I end up blubbing
+1 for nothing involving people with pointy ears or one eye etc..Well, apart for, maybe, stuff like Enemy Mine Errr, it's kind of a love story..
I now like romantic comedies... . It's an age thing.* Although I may borrow Mr. yer_maj in my twilight years for trips to the opera. Foreign language, check. Incomprehensible plots/emotional dilemmas, check.Heartbreak all round and stage littered with bodies at end, check.*
Kaz - no use on medical matters either, but hope you're okay.
ATM - If you're claiming Enemy Mine as a rom com, I'm naming Lawrence of Arabia as the best sci-fi ever made. Scratch that, best film full stop, sci-fi or otherwise. Amadeus number two, Cinema Paradiso number three (sorry Yer Maj, it's got subtitles)
Weedy - Cinema Paradiso. Is there a better movie? Simply wonderful, an absolute hymn to cinema, friendship, love (stop me, I might cry) and everything else. Heretical, I know, but for somewhat similar reasons I also loved Hugo last year.
TD, OO - I know, too many movies. But, it's an escape...
Amelie has everything. Funny, touching, atmosphere. Jeunet masterclass. Mathieu Kassowitz Reminds me of another favourite French film - la haine. Though not so much of a feel good film!
'Was stunned by La Haine...What an impressive piece of work by the ( very) young Kassowitz. Aghast, after watching an interview with him...plonker. Still...
What about A Prophet ? ...followed by Expose of prison in centre of Paris by the Chief Medical Officer... * Cue, alternative tourist trips to Paris...*
Just as well this thread is only vaguely related to the marathon, eh?

Kaz - Rest up you. I think you should be resting as much as possible until you're feeling much better and have done for a few days.
Yes, I am aware I'm saying that while moaning about me not being able to run!!

ATM - do you want him now? Go on go on go on go on go on go on....I'll include a pack of wipes for free??
Mind you, he has just vacuumed the house and has now gone to buy the ingredients to cook his legendary Coq...I'll send him on tomorrow, will I?
No. Too busy, right now.Tomorrow, I will be mostly shopping for the perfect cardigan... .I'll save Mr. y_m for later..
Well done anyone who went out, today. It's absolutely horrible and I'm praying that the rain stops before running buddy arrives at 8 am...

Rom Com's... love them... have been known to shed a tear or two...
Iain - don't get me started talking about films, I'll never shut up.
Best film featuring running tho?
Chariots of Fire!!
Galipoli for a good anti war film with a family link
Beyond that I like a good 60s kitchen sink drama, Mike Leigh films or ken loach
Can't knock Lawrence of Arabia for cinematography.
Yer_maj - hope you enjoy mr_maj's coq

For all of you traumatised by the Star Wars/Disney thing, this is for you:

Weedy - I gotta agree with Dave, my running movie is Marathon Man too. Just a brilliant thriller.
I'm off to see Bond tonight - can't wait, quite excited!
ATM - I loved A Prophet. But it's pretty gruesome.
Have you seen The Beat That My Heart Skipped? My favourite French movie. (Although I also adore the Three Colours Trilogy.)
DLR - Amelie is a beautiful movie. I adore La Haine though.
