I'm doing it in June, testing the tent out before IMCH in July
Pudge, from what I understand it's a hilly course on the bike, but I could be wrong!!
Thanks guys. I will probably go ahead and enter anyway. If I start avoiding events on the basis that they sound too hard or hilly etc, then I've failed at the first hurdle!
Pudge, the year I did Bala, I came last, hahaha, but I still made it round the bike course. I'm shit on hills, but got round, so if I managed, you'll definitely manage!!! There is only one 10%-er, and it isn't very long; the rest of the hills are a lot less steep. It is a lovely course. The run is a bit hilly too, but do-able.
anyone done the swim challenge in the past? this year its the 8th June. very tempted by it but want to ensure that loads enter so there is a chance i wont come last

9th June ... I'm off that weekend
i have unfinished business at Bala .. withdrew in T2 after a disastrous swim and bike...
a lot of people are doing the Outlaw half the weekend before.......so 2 in 2 weeks might not be a good idea............
I am doing the enduroman half the wek before.........I love Bala though.missed it the last few years as same weekend as enduroman........
Won't be racing but will def be over probably just fro the day so will cycle over amnd support.
no worries, will nice to have the company.
Last year I cycled from Middlewich - Chester - Corwen - Bala, think it only worked out around 70 miles with a bit of climbing!!
Hello folks! Going to try and come to support Tent needs an outing this year i think ...
Considering entering the standard in September. Is the bike course fairly flat then, as it says its a fast course?

Pudge, i'm afraid the bike route is anything but flat!! That said, some folk don't find it too bad. The course can be a bit windy sometimes too.

Great attitude Pudge its a tough course but with hills you get some great screaming descents It really is a great race
Pudge is talking about the Oly in September, which is a very different bike & run course to the Middle in June
For 'better' or 'worse'?!
Much flatter for both bike & run....
Ok, cheers Dave.
Both the bike and run turn left out of the car park and go down the main road alongside the lake.
Its Wales so it ain't flat, but nothing like the Middle Distance bike course
Not going to be doing either this year sadly
Lee - be great to see you again
tempted to book one of these....
i really need to stop using the internet.

also - do you get a medal?
i like pretty blings
Nope no medal.
just a nice useful towel
do wrexham tri have something against medals?
Would much rather have something useful, rather than yet another medal
i am like a magpie - i like shiny things.
plus my 3 year will be more impressed with a medal compared to a towel (unless it has a disney princess on it)
Nope it has a dragon on it
