Hope, if I can cope with the Nice downhills then anyone can !!
You don't know how much it makes me feel better to hear you say that! I think I'm more worried about the downhills than the uphills! I'm sooo going to be all over hills this winter!
After spending a while just looking at the forum. I've decided to post and what better way than to commit to my first Ironman as part of the "Pirates".
How do I get one of those little yellow pirate flag badges onto my posts like you have above?
sorryIs org folks, I would love to be there, but when I mentioned it to the OH last night about entering, he wasn't too keen, as he now has some unfinished business in Barcelona! He has promised me Lanza half, so thats a bonus
Part of me is saying, "let's just get through popping your cherry at Outlaw, and then we'll see about another one"
But the bigger part of me is saying, "Ooooooooh. Ooooooh, I really fancy that. Right - it's in term time, so I just need to get hubby to take a week's holiday so he can stay home with the weans. How hard can that be?"
Well I have the green light from work and the mrs, so I'm definitely going... Looking forward too it already

I've unfortunately (on the one hand at least) had to remove my name from this list, as following discussions with the OH we have agreed that I will do IM Lanza instead, and tie it in with a family holiday.
I registered yesterday and so will now officially be popping my cherry in sunny Lanzarote (or, based on this year's event, in rainy and windy Lanzarote!)

i thought that Nice was so easy that it has or had a 16 hour cut off ??
Found this - apparently the moral of the story is bike faster

Great - means we'll be in the bar sooner
Not as far as I know, I thought it was 17. Meldy, can you remember?
from their web site:
This post is also available in: French
SWIM: 2h15 (local time: 08.45 am)
SWIM+BIKE: 10h45 (local time: 05.15 pm) You have to join the “St Bernabé” point (118.70 kms BIKE) before 03.10 pm.
SWIM+BIKE+RUN: 16h00 (local time: 10.30 pm) You have to finish the third loop (31.50 kms RUN) before 09.45 pm.
Ohhh I think that's different to last time the pirates went.
Has anyone Sussed out what/which/when/where would be the ideal 70.3 to do foot the run up to this?
i was planning on my maiden voyage to be IM Wales 2014, but you've got my attention with this.
Nice is and (as far as I know) always has been 16hrs .... Austria is 17 I think
Nice is eminently doable in 16 hrs ... I did
And you did it in style!

Yay - a flat bike course next year, might be in for this one
You have to sleep with Barlos, we've all done it, quite painless if executed under the anaesthetic qualities of alcohol
welcome aboard!
Was the little Japanese chap who Barley slept on in the Zurich youth hostel made an honoury pirate as he had completed the initiation?
Barlos does sound like a girls name, so that's okay then.

Alternatively, you can just do an Ironman which is probably less physically demanding and certainly leaves fewer emotional and physical scars
Raf - ha ha!
I can still remember the stink of piss at the run turn around point
Luckily I've retired and have sold my wetsuit and all my bikes

Oops I meant sorry!!

Nursey, I know which one is easiest
Thanks Melds, that's really helpful
Here to help
Retired from IM so I won't be there.

this all looks suspiciously down hill
IM nice bike route
not that i am considering this but has Nice ever been a non wetsuit swim..i presume with it being a sea swim that it would always be a wetsuit swim
