P says the sea isn't rough - just a lovely big yawing rolling swell which plays havoc with the guts - Lindi and Z have bowked but P seems to be OK at last call although she hadn't been below by then........
going tres slowly although not quite as slow as another swimmer apparently
P's just phoned to say he's quit. looked like it was going to be a 30hr swim at the speed he was going and he's been complaining that it was tough in the swell. plus being violently sick at the last feed meant he lost everything that he'd taken in up to then - so no energy. sounds like the right decision to quit.
the guy was an American known to a few forumites - came over to attempt a channel swim. got 4 hrs into the swim before abandoning the attempt - many reasons not least being violently sick and losing everything he'd taken in as fuel. my missus was on the support boat with Lindi and Zuppy.
Candy has had to pull from Sparta - work commitments - hoping for 2010
Cant remember if we have thought of this before or not, what about a list of kit for sale on the website? I know there are a few of us with bits to declutter and a plethora of newbies looking for stuff
Melds I think we were talking aobut this a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to de-bike.... the problem is that either it means JD has to spend ages putting everything up for people, or else the site is open and potentially gets spammed by randoms selling crap, or we have to have some kind of system with logins etc, which again means lots of time for JD?
We should just lean on RW towers to have a classifieds forum, like bike radar and 220 do.....
hi, yeah i did think on this. but then got distracted but a few unrelated shit storms that have taken up my time.
setting up the online bit was fine as there's loads of apps that allow people to register and post on websites. but then when i thought about the registration bit i realised i'd want to make sure barlos was barlos, Meldy was Meldy etc and it all got a bit tiresome from there on. if peeps registered i'd then need to send passwords via the forum. then there's the whole thing of who can list there stuff on the site ie who's really a pirate etc etc. then i got busy and forgot about everything.
still, my life has simplified again now so i'm happy to try and sort something out. tbh a thread on here where people ask for stuff or say they've listed their bike on ebay would be best. but as this is a commercial site i doubt the thread would last long!
JD - what about having a simple bulletin board that just links from the PSOF site.
There's likely to be a few people that don't post so much that still want to sell something on the site (like having the icon ) but I am sure we'll soon sort out people out. If the board was on a separate site, the passwords etc could be managed through that. And at the end of the day, people have to accept they are taking a gamble buying something second hand.
I really don't understand why RW doesn't have a classifieds bit - the bike radar one works really well (have sold various bits on there recently with no hassles at all), and it's kept separate from all the discussion threads etc.

PS - looks like Bill is going pretty slowly.....20 hrs P reckons!!
and JD - Jo beat me to it, but of course Florida counts - the pro times there are no different to anywhere else - it's just as hard, just flatter
site updated once again. what about the DIM women? didn't KK finish this year?

and in Scotland we spell it boak!
who's on the boat then - Zuppy, Petal, Lindi and others I guess?

Could be worth hosting on the PSOF site?

No problem with using ebay Carl, it just makes sense to offer first dibs to any newbies?
I think it would be v useful! Meldy, your powers reach everywhere, tell RW towers!
