lol Scotkat - I agree with you re more room at the back! I did a recent 10k that included a stile or 2 and lots of people complained about 'bottlenecks' in places. I thought "what bottlenecks?" !! There are some advantages to being slow then! Lots more personal space for a start!!!
(p.s. ScotKat ... just saw your offer to lend me a hat to eat to save me buying one - just wanted to thank you for your generous offer!! I don't think I'll be needing it though as race pack still hasn't arrived!!)
I got mine today - all seems to be there, so perhaps it's just needing an extra day to get to you (did you email yesterday?). Let me dust off a fedora for you just in case...think I've got one here somewhere
Leslie - I'm waiting til pay day to enter , but yeah, if it's along even part of the marathon route, it'll be worth doing it - seems silly not to when it's just on my doorstep.
PH - sure I saw your name on Brass Monkey H/M thread too and Robin Hood ... someone who's as much of a race addict as I am by any chance?! Sooo want to do the Brass Monkey as that's near where I grew up but will be away from home on 8th (in Inverness in fact!) so it's going to be a real palaver trying to get form printed - hope it's worth it! Anyone know of an internet cafe in Inverness?
Scotkat - I'm no. 5040 for Sunday (and hat didn't taste too bad, thanks!). What's your number - I'll look out for you. How about you Alibaliboo?
Not sure how much of it will be exact, but it's the same finishing place, and I can't see which other ways they'd run along the coast except the way they're going to for the marathon, but it's hard to tell for sure when you can't access a route for the course...
Scotkat and s but s race number for weekend-4806..... they must know we will be competing for last place they have given us late numbers. See you there hopefully.
Havn't posted since about page 4 as busy trying to keep up to speed on the GNR thread! Well done to all who did it, (and the other races mentioned) I think from reading back on this thread I was the slowest 1:51:56 but pleased enough with that. My pb is 1:44:57 but I thought the GNR was hard work.
In the post race glow of enthusiasm I have entered for the Jedburgh half at the end of the month and the Edinburgh half next March, but have Aviemore to deal with before then - I can't figure if I am recovering or tapering atm.
Like most of you I have my name down for the FLM and getting twitchy.
I got into the EM by virtue of my GSR and I see that the same fast track is on offer to runners in the GNR so we might get an influx of poster shortly!
Yep, that pretty much looks like how I think the course will go, except that there's likely to be a double-back somewhere as there's a river running through musselburgh and I think (not 100%) that the racecourse is on t' other side...
Cheers Scotkat, that's the first time i've done that, just wanted to see what it looked like.
SFC, have you done the Jedburgh half before? If so what's it like? I've still got that post race feeling where I want to enter as many races as I can!!
Oh, I also e-mailed the entries administrator to see how I go about getting my guaranteed entry and I've just to wait and see if I get through the ballot or not. If I don't then I've to contact her and she'll make sure I get in
sfc I'll see you at aviemore next week although I'm much slower than you.looking forward to it as they say its mainly down hill find that hard to believe tho!!
Hi all. Not posted on this year's Ed marathon thread but did a good few times on last year's. Anyway, I've just entered as a past entrant.
Not sure how I'll get on this year as I'm doing my first 50 miler a month before... Edinburgh Marathon is however now an annual event after entry in the last three years.
I'm also doing the Jedburgh Half at the end of the month. I don't race very often - five times this year - and haven't done much training for it. I originally got the idea to train for it at the end of August, put in three to four weeks training, lost motivation and gave up for a few weeks. Decided now with four weeks left that I'd go for it after all. My initial aim was 1h35 but I'm thinking a sub 1h40 would be respectable given training..

I'm sure that'll be fine - you could have 6 weeks buiding your base back up, and then start proper training in the New Year.
by the way - 'popster'?! Like it, sometimes get popsicle but never had popster before!

Thanks - see u there then ScotKat! (and Alibaliboo hopefully!)
Weather forecast looks really promising for Sunday too ... dry but not too hot for running!

Maa, I've just realised, this race is costing more for me to enter than London How's that happen?

Hi Leslie!
Yes, did Jed last year. Nice rural course, undulating with a kick ass hill at mile 11. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be shot!
No chip, but nice medal and friendly atmosphere. 643 finishers last year.
I was swithering a bit, but then the post race feeling kicked in - so I'm in!
Go for it!
Hi Ali !
Looking forward to it! Running with OH - tho' she will probably tell me to bu*ger off and let her run at her own pace!
As for the down hill.......... we'll see!
