Some people that want to become famous should definitely be deterred at all costs for their own good. Unless they are prodigiously talented and have something to offer the world. In which case they should be looked after and not exploited - Judy Garland springs to mind.
Except maybe Man Utd fans when we trounce them at Old Trafford. I can live with that.
You've got to remember that this girl has four children to raise too and it's not good to have a mummy who is on the slide to that degree. She needs all the help she can get.
The music industry is savage and you've got to be prepared to have your head ripped off to get to the top. I'm not suggesting we only help the prodigious talent at all. All I'm saying is that you have to have balls of steel in this industry or else you'll crash and burn, be it publicly or otherwise.
Yeah, wasn't having a go at you Screamapillar. What does my 'ead in is those celeb mags that focus upon doing the same people down who a few months previous they were building up... must be a market for it or they wouldn't do it.
BTW Madonna is barmy ... Kabala etc... WTF is all that about ?
... and I'm one of those who thinks she's no talent now and has never had any... she's the ultimate postmodern celeb template. Famous for being famous - can sing a little bit.
I'm not sure the blame can be put squarely on the music industry here though DM - she hasn't done any singing - that I know of - for ages has she? Maybe if she had she wouldn't be in such a state.
And I don't claim to have any special knowledge of the music industry.
Kerry Katona openly admits that she got the Atomic Kitten job just by showing her tits to the people putting the band together. They asked her "what can you do?" and she said "this" and flashed.
"You're in" they said.
The one thing she has never said is that she is a singer.
I think it's the fault of the massive celebrity culture coupled with the fact that the celebrity culture and those that attach themselves to it only want to hear the bad stuff
So the photographers and the news watch only follow those about who are having a rough time
And the minions rush off to buy those horrible dull and nasty magazines like "Heat" and all that crap that only serves to dish out the nasties on other people
Which people enjoy.
Whose fault is it? Those horrible people who buy those magazines and those papers and revel in the downfall of people like this woman and Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse. If we only wanted to hear the good stuff, and TV presenters refused to put someone who is clearly off their little pips on TV, threads like this wouldn't pop up where people talk about the downfall of someone and how horrible they looked.
I didn't even see it this morning. But it was splashed in the papers and now on the forum
You telling me that half you lot aren't revellling in someone else's misery again?

I do DM

I agree with DM on this one. Some people get a gloating satisfaction from seeing celebs crash and burn.
Sometimes it's the very same people who put them up there in the first place
That's a slightly different issue though Corinth - exploitation as I mentioned before.
I don't like seeing anyone in pain.
Except maybe Man Utd fans when we trounce them at Old Trafford. I can live with that.
You've got to remember that this girl has four children to raise too and it's not good to have a mummy who is on the slide to that degree. She needs all the help she can get.
That will never happen.

I heard she lip synched her wedding vows

Somebody must read those magazines.....
I couldn't bring myself to buy one. I'd feel like a chav just having it in my trolley.
In much the same way I can't set foot in Farmfoods....

Well I'm putting it down to the industry and (possibly the state of the press)
Anyway, i'm starting to rant because I'm pissed off. I'll shut up.
Be that as it may, the industry accepted her.
LB, if someone said to you "You can earn big money as a popstar" you may very well find it difficult to refuse.
According to Wikipedia she left Atomic Kitten in 2001 and there is no other mention of her being involved with music since.
That's a long time ago.
Anyway enough already. We disagree, I can handle that. Life wouldn't be much fun if we were all of the same mind would it?
At my age, I'd laugh my head off DM!
But when I was 20, I'd probably have done exactly the same thing. I don't blame her for going for it.
I know where she lived. This was the stuff that dreams are made of. The estate she lived on was known as "The Bronx" for a good reason.
So, my issue about mental health is still an issue. Are you seriously telling me that everyone is the same?
... and if that is the case, why don't you feel the same about non-celebs
????
Well I'm just confused now, I'm pretty sure that's not what I said

AND if you get offended by my last post, then perhaps you are one of those revelling Heat readers
Some of us feel sorry for her, others would like her to go away quietly but I don't think anybody's revelling.
Scream - I know you aren't one
But how about you read the first page? Tell me that's not revelling?
You may have a point there PO - but the revellers went away when the real debate got started
Well, as normal as I am.......
That bad huh?
Yeh to be honest, I only read the first 2 pages
I think DM may be lying in a darkened room.
Should I offer him a camomile tea do you think? I have some tea bags in my drawer. And some rescue remedy pastilles.
And come cucumber for the eyes
He seems strained
