The online entry for this say the race is now full but it also states there will be on the day entries, anyone know whether this is still the case?? Was hopefull of maybe doing this one as my last race of the year but looks like I might have left it too late
Hill - I`m also chasing a sub 1:50 asap and kind of think I should`ve entered this. I did 1:51 at Worksop. I`m now thinking of the Central Lancs half in early Jan. Did 78 for 10 miles last weekend so I reckon I have a 1:4# in me!
This will be my 2nd half marathon so I have some catching up to do . My only previous was the Great North Run and I ran 1:55. I am confident of improving on it at Clowne, 1:50 will do although 1:45 would be ecstatic! Although my expectations may be unrealistic given my inexperience.
we like the hilly races, usually great for rural quietness and great views as said already
plus, we enjoy them or i do, as they are a superb stamina builder,
but we've never managed to get to Buxton yet, or one or two others, i think we'll have to challenge these in 2010
i know thier tough, but that's ok, the tougher the better for myself
we've just done only a few weeks ago Great Langdale HM in Cumbria for a 4th time , and the great Ron Hill has told me personally, that in his mind, there's no worse
i think this one is great, its all local for me clowne is only 9 miles from my house and do my shopping there most weeks
wouldnt call it tough either just challenging (for me anyway) dont really like it too flat they are ok for PB's but i get more staifaction from finishing a hilly course, you feel like you've earn't that extra food for the day lol
i was looking at buxton might attempt it next year
I did Buxton this year in the heat on this do not take it fast it is hilly for the first 3 miles then down hill then up and down I am signing up for it and Eyam
id love to do eyam but i volunteer for "walk the walk" and that weekend in may is the playtex moonwalk in london and i work all night for them and love it
but im working my way round all the other half marathons around here and further away.
im doing my first marathon next year too in edinburgh, which scares me a bit but should be ok lol
Sorry, not been able to get on for a while. Just to let all of you know who have not entered the Clowne 1/2 that the race is now full and NO entries will be available on the day. This is the 25th 1/2 marathon and it's the first time we've been full prior to the day. Sorry to all who did not get in but the race has been open since March.
Good Luck to everyone who's running and look forward to seeing you all on the day.
One final thing, anyone thinking of turning up on the day and running without a number please don't. This could endanger the safety of others who have entered. We set a limit on numbers for numerous reasons but the main one is safety. Please don't compromise it!!!
Had a steady warm up for this one by running the Newcastle Town Moor marathon yesterday , hoping the aches and tiredness has worn off enough for me to do a decent effort, certainly won't be approaching a pb.
Cos it's fab..bright sunshine forecasted at the moment, oh, and it means you don't have to go Christmas shopping. Nice one Andy, so soon after marathon-was it a good un?
Probably hardest 26.2 miler I've ever done to be honest, trails, grassy muddy inclines, cow muck, multi laps. Still enjoyable though, oh and did I mention I won !
any excuse not to go shopping is good , well done andy on your tough marathon
which this damn wind would go, if it is sunny will be better than last years sleet, snow, rain and frost think we had all weather before it started lol, i didnt make my mind up to run til 30 mins before was sat in my car thinking "what the hell am i doing" lol but was glad i did it later on that day

Just had an email from the race organisers and it looks like full does indeed mean full and they won't be taking on the day entries.
Oh well, looks like I'll have to wait till next year for my first sub 1:50 time!!
Good luck all, enjoy it!

actually for HM's, people think Clowne in tough,
in actual fact it's a fun run comparing to some
