To be fair to Virgin (and Flora last year), I expect the ballot system is run by the London Marathon organisers, not Virgin themselves who are just the sponsor!
I feel so sill now i thought the system opened this morning at 9:00 If i knew it was 12 i'd have tried earlier than this..... "Page Load Error" is getting boring seeing now?
I think that would of been better as well this year.
Then at least the ones who have applied in the past can get their entries done and out of the way, and then anyone who feels inspired from watching the marathon can then apply once they've finished watching it.
I'm getting nowhere too. Not too concerned with not being able to enter (eventually), but gutted if the GFA cut off has been brought forward. My first marathon is Edinburgh in May, which I wanted to do conservatively, then go for GFA time in an autumn marathon if I didn't get in through the ballot. Now I might really have to push for 3.45.
have been trying to get on the website since 9am (naively I believe that it opened at 9am like they said it would) and no joy getting to the web page as yet - hope it doesn't fill before i manage to get on there!
I thought it was going to open at 10am this morning, just checked on the off chance. Now getting quite obsessed and won't get any work done until I've applied! I hope I can get through otherwise it's three years of consecutive applying wasted!
Would it not be better to wait for a few weeks after the marathon for the ballot to open?
That would I believe reduce the number who get carried away with coverage and say "I'll do that next" year, when they have no intention of doing it. It would also give the "never again" runners a chance to change their mind.
What was the fallout on this years race? Of the 36K who registered how many were accepted?
Cant get on the site so peeeeed offf. Applied and got rejected 5 times so really need to get this application done so I can eventually get the place. thought it did not open till 9am so waited till then wish I had done it sooner.
It's ridiculous ...it took me 40 minutes to get as far as filling in my entry details and it wanted to know my realbuzz password...by the time I found it I couldn't get back in!!! doh!
I'm trying to stay calm (but mad at myself for believing the 9am thing and not trying at 6 this morning when the kids woke me!)
I'm another four times in a row reject (in fact, 9 rejections in total through the ballot, out of 9 applications) so I want to apply to gain the all important fifth rejection!
I'm convinced I'll never get in directly through the ballot - it's become quite a joke in my family (as my brothers always seem to get in!)

Steve
Bit ironic that a margarine company can make a better fist of a website and it's access than supposedly one of the UK's largest media companies!
Think I'll go to Anchor Butter for my internet access contract......
I can't get on either .
Been rejected 4 times I believe so must deserve a place by now...
Right....
If we all stop trying then do it one at a time, then post on here that we are finished... that will work...
OK, I'll go first?
