this is ridiculous. And why have so many links for you to go through? Any idea if you can take a charity place if not entered im the ballot? I prob wouldn't have got through the ballot anyway but would be nice to be in it.
Think last year I entered when it reopened a week later.
So do we think that the servers down so no one's getting anywhere, or is the (inadequate) system working at full capacity so some people are managing to enter - and it just seems to us like nothing's happening to the rest of us?
friend of ours entered at 6:30am he is ballot number 101664 and his wife is 101880!
that leaves only 18000 for the people who waited until the advertised official opening time of 9am!
The number is misleading.. and I don't believe it starts at 0. I was given the number of 109300 at 2pm last year on the day of the marathon itself, and that was certainly not an indication that 109,300 people had signed up. I suspect their numbering system starts at 100,000.
Stuboy i dont think they need to be consecutive rejections, Though i've been rejected once myself.
and boy did it hurt!
When I got rejected last year I got an email of other marathons around the same time and ended up doing Paris earlier this month as my first which was fantastic Still want to do London though, very jealous of that finish.
If it turns out to be true that the allocated places were almost gone by the time the official open time arrived then that is truly shocking, a disgrace.
Checked the site at 8am and despite getting to address details a couple of times thats it. I expected it to be busy but I also expected there to be places left at 9am...
I got past the real buzz page once - just said I didn't want to sign up and clicked next. That was about 1.5 hours ago. Don't think I've had anything except page load error for at least 1.5 hours. More possibly.
I am actually in the site on about page 4 or 5, but that is as far as I have been able to get since 9am. 4th rejection year. Even if you can get into the site itself that doesn't mean the pages will click through and allow you to enter in my experience.
At least the people who really want to run it will take the time to fill out the form and post it off. It seems the convinience of the internet has increased the number of applicants.
This is ridiculous. I have been trying since 9am and I am getting nowhere. I know need to go out and don't know when I will get to a computer for the rest of the day.
What was wrong with the old paper entry system. This one is just so unfair. I think many of us should write a strongly worded letter to the organisers.
Now it looks like I have no chance of even geting into the ballot as probably the places will be full by the time I get back to the computer.
Moan moan. Sorry folks. It is so frustrating isn't it?
the numbers may (hopefully!) be counting from 100000...it seems a bit odd for 100,000 people to have been busy registering between midnight and 6am, that's a *lot* of people!

i'm not getting any pages up at all grrrrr!! like lots of others i only started trying at 9. been up most of the night too so could have done it at 12. sooooo frustrating
you can see most of the virgin site quickly with a text-only browser such as lynx (google and download it), the only problem is it wont do the https part you need to register!

So are first time appliers unlikley to even get a place if we do eventually log on?
Might stick to Halfs at this rate!
Cannot find server message too...
Its now gone down then rathern than just slow...

Another reason why Paris Marathon is becoming increasingly popular... none of this ballot rubbish either!
Refresh... refresh... refresh.... refresh...

No way have 100k plus entered already. Don't panic.
I say go back to the old postal application.

What makes me smile is that even after all this nonsense, only one in 5 of us will get in anyway!!!

I've got 2 open and they're both blank!
And yes, if I had known the ballot would actually open at midnight I'd willingly have stayed up.
ive got options for good for age runners, wheelchairs,. but no normal application????
Do we need a real buzz password? If so, lets all go and crash that site while we are waiting to crash the VLM site again!
Thats what Im now getting at the ballot first stage...
START AGAIN!!!!
We should all be talking about how we've entered the ballot and we're hoping for a place.
We should not be having conversations about our refreshing techniques/methods and discussing IT issues...
This sucks...
