hoping for sub-1:55 plenty of snow here in sunny South Manchester, but managed to get out for a few cross-country-stylee Miles scrunching around the local park
Plenty of snow still left in Lanc's too, was thinking about melting late this afternoon, but will probably be worse in the morning as I think it's back below freezing outside!!
Managed an 11mile run yesterday on the treadmill, too icy out
I'm hoping to get under 1:35. Hopefully a run or two over christmas to burn off the mince pies and I might just get there.
got out for 12 Miles today not ideal underfoot but doable impossible to judge effort vs pace though, so no idea what shape I'll be in come race day makes it more fun
Kind of looking forward to it! Training not quite gone to plan since the weather changed but managed a nice interval session in the snow but had to cut short my long run after 7 miles yesterday as I had some foot pain. Paul - might have a friend who`s interested.
Paul - had text from mate saying he won`t run as he`s not in race shape. Sorry. Not sure whether I`m in `race shape` but I`ll be running. Ideally want to run 8.20-8.30 pace and dip into the 1:40s for the first time, but think my lack of miles might catch up with me in the last quarter. Ran a steady 6 today but the conditions included rain, sleet, snow and wind here in Sheffield.
Dont think many of us are in race shape after all the bad weather and festivities. Ive only ran once in the last 2 weeks, so it will be a matter of survival on sunday.
Good luck everyone. Most of the snow in Oldham has gone now if this is any reflection on the weather in Preston....Can't imagine me breaking any personal records but am lookng forward to it!
What`s the crack with IPods? I don`t have anything in my race-pack to say `no` but I think there was mention of a ban earlier in this thread - ? Any weather news? Feeling apprehensive after over-doing celebrations last night!
As for the weather, I'm about 10-15 miles away and there was a heavy frost overnight, but only a very slight dusting of snow which has already melted today. Forecast to be very cold on sunday, still below freezing at 9am and high of plus 1 at 12pm somight need to run in thermals,
Race limit reduced to 300 as at 21/11/09 Race two thirds full. New Event run through coutry lanes of central Lancashire Race Limited to 300 for safety reasons. PLEASE also note the wearing of Ipods in the event is forbidden following the unfortunate fatality with a young lady in the Midlands. Anyone wearing these will not be allowed to go through the finish as the event Insurance does not cover Ipod related incidents.

last few "race-pace practice" miles today
need to hold 8:47 pace for sub 1:55 - thinking this should be doable
stamina is good, so gonna try to start at 8:40-8:45 pace and hope not to drop off... [fingers_crossed_smiley]
