copied us obviously Wish them all the best though and I bet their baton doesn't have a face or drinks as much as Barry Great path for our relay too.
Wonder if I could contact BBC Wales about what we are doing, linking it into that story. As coasters is national , it may go further as they are all linked.
That's definitely worth a try Stu, nice and topical - "we're looking forward to coasting along the new path..." shame it doesn't show the author of the piece to contact directly.
We have now completed 8 stretches successfully I also guess that we have all learned something about what make a stretch work well. Observing I have come to the conclusion that from now on we must follow a certain "approach" to ensure no headless chicken acts and lovely smooth stretches
they are:
1. Get a co-ordinator for each leg set up well in advance as possible. 2. Seek runners but only add them when : a Coasters have provided name, e mail address and telephone numbers b. Checked in at two-weekly intervals to stay on the programme c. Coasters have their PM turned on
3. All coasters should check in eight days before start
4. Coasters should ring Barry HQ at start and finish
In the next couple of weeks we can view the period as a transition period where those that have not done what is requested can do so. It is best to get these rules in now as we have a little more luxury as far as numbers are concerned.
This is absolutely crucial, in that, for coasters to be a success, all stretches have to complete. The coasters spirit is partly about realizing how inter-dependent we are. Look at where Barry is now and feel proud. Look where he has been and look where he is heading!!
I've noticed on the Coasters website that Porth Dafarch to Holy Head has not got a runner. If this is the case then I'm happy to cover it for you , along with Cameron Saynor, and possibly Tom Bullock.
Will start to chase up confirmations of those on existing legs, as for some it will have been a while. We'll then get a good picture of wherre we're at and can start actively promoting through AugustSept.
So if those on the list above could repost and Bold themselves it would help. Also if you could indicate approximate time you think your leg would take that would be superb.
Hi LOA - how are you? Wow - you've got a lot of legs here, like a millipede...lots and lots of legs
I'm running with the Coasters on the Edinburgh-South Shields stretch at the moment and I would like to ask all of you here to just spend a few minutes over the current stretch to give some encouragement and moral support if you would please.... it will mean a lot to the runners and when it's your turn, everyone else will be descending here too to give you a push on ....thank you all....
Thought I'd pop my head in on this stretch *waves*
Just been relaying on the Edinburgh-South Shields stretch and can honestly say this endeavour is well worth the effort
I might be able to pop down to help on this stretch too, but would probably be tied to weekends only at the time of year you are expecting the baton to arrive. So keep me in mind and give us a shout if you need a hand!
Morning chaps, seems like our Barry is getting noticed in high places, just had this in from the Assembly, wonder if we can get any AM's out to do a leg or two :
Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing sends this message of support to the Coaster GB round-Britain coastal relay runners. Ms Davidson, who has responsibility for cycling and walking, said: "Good luck to everybody taking part in this challenging adventure. I am delighted that the Welsh section of this marathon of marathons will involve runners taking in the beauty of our coastline. "I am sure that the great contrasts of the Welsh coast, from miles of flat sandy beaches to rugged cliffs, will provide a stunning challenge to those taking part. "It is a real pleasure to see people using our coast, which the Assembly Government is working to make more accessible. By 2012, we are committed to opening up all of the Welsh coastline so that others may follow in the footsteps of the Coasters GB participants. "I believe that by making the most of our natural resources people can live more active and healthy lives in line with our Change4Life programme."
Just checked in on this thread, (first time in a while) I was preliminarily down for a stretch on the North Wales coast, but suggested a substitute was found as I was injured and had no idea how long I was going to be out.
Anyway I'm back and I see at the moment you appear to be a bit light for Angelesy and the Lynn Peninsula.
I'm happy to run a section (or 2 depending on the schedule and shift patterns), So put me down as a floater. (nearer the time I can confirm things)

looks like the North Wales Coastal path is getting a bit more publicity .... wonder where they got the idea for an Oak baton from ???

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Good morning Coasters.

Hi Guys,
I've noticed on the Coasters website that Porth Dafarch to Holy Head has not got a runner. If this is the case then I'm happy to cover it for you , along with Cameron Saynor, and possibly Tom Bullock.
Is this ok?
Charlotte
Charlotte it most certainly is OK. We'll pop you guys down now.
And you'll get the honour of sending Barry off over for his week round Northern Ireland too !
Is Barry getting a ferry or are we gonna attatch a little motor on him and point him to Belfast?
I plan to take him across on the ferry to the start of the Ireland stretch, and hope to do a leg in ireland while I'm over there.....
Charlotte
