Just got back from 15 mile trail run over South Downs nice and cold just to remind me whats coming up :0) Very slow and very gentle run 10 min mile 3000 feet of climbs. Happy New Year everyone
Adie.. ask the organisers first. One of my clubmates would happily pay for it if it is permitted. He was top 20 last year & wants to improve! Just let me know if you have any joy.
I have a spare place for this now. I've already contacted the Race Director and it is possible to transfer the number. Let me know if you would like my place.
Have they changed their minds regarding transfers?
My mate was told he wasn't allowed to transfer his number 2 or 3 weeks ago (think he binned his number as a result), also the 'Race information brochure' clearly states 'Numbers cannot be transferred'.
I have noticed that the road near the race course is closed 30 minutes before and for 2hours 45 minutes while the race is on. Does this mean that If I parked at the race course I would have to wait until at least 12.45 before getting out? Sorry if this is a daft question but I am going by myself and dont really know the area so wondering if there could be a better parking option if this is the case.
So you have to collect numbers on the day, and they've published a list of entrants on the web with race numbers? So if you knew someone was not doing it, you could turn up on the day and collect their number / chip?
If you have some false ID and don't mind perjuring yourself, yes, in theory you could but they do state on the race instructions that you will be asked to provide ID - no ID, no number. They allowed transfers until Sunday - which they haven't in previous years.
alib1975 - they don't normally close the road for anything other than the start and one of the usual car parks is outside of the race course anyway. I doubt you'd get stuck.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
alib1975 - the road at the back of the racecourse that most runners will use to get there is usually a good place to park. I've never had any bother getting away due to road closures, it's more just volume of traffic coming away from the racecourse. Just I don't know the name of the road, which isn't really helpful!
Early weather forecast for Sunday: Heavy rain, 6C, 13mph northerly wind. But BBC weather can't always be trusted
Carrot - Thanks, I will try and find out. My husband and 2 boys were supposed to be coming wth me but unfortunately one has a football match so I have to drive by myself there and back. I wouldnt mind if I knew exactly were I am going! I think I need to aim to get there just before 9am incase of traffic or if the sat nav goes funny.
I will keep my fingers crossed that the heavy rain forcast will be wrong or later on in the day!
Alib.. If you are coming in from the west you will be on the A1036 (Tadcaster Rd) coming into York. You will see the racecourse in all it's glory on your right as you drive past. You will go down a gentle slope and just as the racecourse greenery ends you need to turn right. This road is called Knavesmire Rd. Drive about 500-800 metres up here, it is then possible to park at the side of the road if you are early enough. Not far ahead of you and slightly around a bend is an entrance into the racecourse area. This road will take you to race HQ. Just put 'York Racecourse' into google maps and all this should make sense.

Thanks wardi.
Adie - I would be interested in the number and pay for it.
Also I know I have to collect the number so dont know how that works, unless you have some info.
Let me Know ASAP.
Cheers
Morning all...
sorry for the delay in getting back, number still available a dog bite on the shin fully closing the window for running the race....
There is something on the Fetch forum about transfering numbers which involves emailing an organiser so it seems to be ok
There was interest from a couple of people so first person to message me gets the chance..
Thanks Adie
Wardi no worries mate, will prob see you at the YRRL
today is last day for official transfers of number according to the club
