Coolio! bhflyer and I are driving up with the families the night before, Plum and AN Other (LMH ?) are doing it as well. Should be a good 'un. You out for a time or just a social one ?
Does anyone knopw how much of it is going to be on open roads/how busy its likely to be?I've ran races on roads open to traffic before, but never one with several thousand competing.
Tom, even with a big field, it will spread out very soon and soon thousands will be very thinly spread: you wil be lucky to even be in a group. In reality, RSM is a small marathon and half marathon and I woudl not worry about numbers.
Haven't run for a while. Hip still causing me trouble (I think it's bursitis) after speed session on Tuesday 29th March. This has come at a really bad time - right in the middle of peak month. I tried a 2.5 mile run on Friday, and hi was sore afterwards. Can't see how I can do a 20 miler. I might be another drop out. I'm still swimming and spinning, I've even found time for some core work and some stretching which I don't do enough of. I just need to get some running done!!!
hi mat, sorry to hear your struggling - this may sound a little insensitive, but if you do have to pull out could i get first refusal and buy your place off you ?
I don't see why not. Give me another week, I'm going to try to run this weekend, I should know my Monday as to whether I can give it a go or not. It's not looking good though.
Did my last LSR yesterday, 21.23 miles in 2:48 so everything is done now apart from the taper and the race. Few easy weeks coming up with a few races at 6 m/m so that the legs get used to moving fast again and find marathon pace easy.
688 miles done since training started on 17th January and 5 longs rins total 100 miles so all is good.
Good effort Philip. Very jealous of the mileage and times you're putting in. Off to run to work soon, last time I did this was over two months ago, my knees gave way just past half way and I had to limp/walk the last three miles. Feeling a little trepidation this morning
did my run to work today, no knee pain so looks like i'm still doing the half. My garmin tells me I had a total ascent of 467m I know Garmin are crap for hills but it did seem more hilly than I remember. Net climb of 58m. Managed to not leave clean trousers at work yesterday so that was another 6 pounds on my back (didn't think jeans and phone where that heavy!)
Having broken up, and with the kids away with their grandparents, I attempted to run the marathon route yesterday. However I did get hideously lost and managed 22.5 miles!
The Greenway is Ok, the issue is the fact you hit it at 20.5 miles, when everyones knackered. Plenty of birds in the trees and rabbits palying in the field to look at.
Rumer Hill is less of a hill than I expected.
I ran through Luddington, and everywhere I went there were retired people cutting their grass etc, They mostly said 'Hello' or 'Good morning'. A really friendly (and pretty) place.
Plenty of parking at the Riverside, or the Marina, but don't park at the hospital unless you're an elite athlete:- maximum 4 hours.
Really looking forward to a long run in some really nice countryside.
Look forward to seeing lots of you there. I'll be the one at the back!

18 slow miles yesterday but felt surprising good despite the sun.
Beginning to think I can beat the 4 hour mark if get the pace right / wind blows the right way and I don't convince myself I can't.

See you there!
Could someone let me know what the cost is for a marathon place please ?
thanks

Prepared to pay full fee and to split the cost of the transfer fee.
thanks
