Hi all I have a running number for this event that I am now no longer able to use. I have a transfer form from the organiser and the chip and number. Do you know anyone who is looking to run this great event?
My last half was the Pembrokeshire half in Dale- run along the cliffs of Pembs!
I think I have reached a new fitness level ! Don't really know what to say about tonight's run: 12.13m with 7m tempo pace and decided to run on the track to avoid all the hills round here to get an idea of where I'm at running a tempo "comfortably hard" pace. The answer was that I like where I'm at- and managed to run at a 10k PB pace for 7m in the middle of a solo 12m training run in my heaviest marathon training week!!! Now I know I can run sub 6min miles in Swansea 10k splits: 7:37 7:21 7:31 7:27 6:12 6:10 6:08 6:06 6:07 6:07 6:07 7:36 58. Chippenham Half to think about first though!
Hi Windsor Andy yes i have a spare number and chip along with a transfer form - if you can email me at tim@timmatchamgardendesign.co.uk I'll email the form over and arrange how to get the number etc to you Cheers Tim
I saw your post earlier in teh thread offering it but assumed it had gone by now! Thanks for your reply.
Turns out I'm having to sit through the missus's pub gig the night before so I'm going to struggle to make this one, but what the hell. I could really do with getting a race in that weekend.
I'm doing the Stratford Big 10K that day as It's my nieces 21st the night before and that is fairly nearby! Don't think either of us will be getting PB's!!!!
Good luck it's supposed to be a great race. Interested to hear how you get on.
Was 50/50 about running it after injury woes last week, but after a week and a half of very little running and a bit of x training I feel OK and I'm going to run it. Was hoping for Sub 1:30 but don't think that's going to happen so anything close to last year's time (1:32) would be good. Good luck all.
Thanks Chippenham Harriers for a well organised and supported event I finished 26th in 83.50. Was hoping to be a bit faster, but the course was a little more undulating in the second half than I expected, or it just felt it in the strong headwind for the last 4m Typical that the headwind and the uphill drag came together. Not a big hill- just enough of an undulation in a strong wind! Thanks again, I'll be back next year without a doubt
Jason - Well done on your performance, yeah mile 11 and 12 hurt see below.
Chippenham went OKish today, us runners never happy. Windy but not as bad as expected. Set off at a decent pace but paid for it later, miles 11 and 12 are steady inclines nothing too steep but it's still uphill. Finishing time 1:33:44 avg 7:05 which I would have settled for but at halfway I thought I was on for a better time. Splits as follows:
well done all, an ongoing calf problem played up at around mile 7, so eventually crossed the line in 1:52, but what a great event! well done chippenham harriers, Bath & Bristol should both take note!!
I looked out for you Barry but didn't spot you. I was wearing a bright orange Wycombe HM shirt with race number 8.
It's funny you should say about runners not being happy. I finished in 1:37:15 which is my fastest time of the year (9th HM) so should be but bit disappointed that I couldn't get nearer to my 1:34 PB as for the first 8 miles I was on course running roughly 7 minute mile pace. I need to take a look at my garmin to see where I lost all the time but suspect it was miles 11 and 12 too as even with the marathon training my legs gave up on me.
Still really enjoyed the day, great weather, great support/marshalling and the shirt Kevin was the best I've received this year.

If anyone has a number they can't use I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.
I was supposed to run the Maidenhead half last SUnday but had to miss it due to a stinking cold

Looking forward to it. Hope the wind dies down a bit.
What number are you Barry. If I see you I might use your slipstream

Wore a heart rate monitor for the first time in a race and was an avg of 178, which I think shows I could n't have gone much quicker.
Thank you everybody for their kind comments. Everyone at Chippenham Harriers is pleased that we managed to put on an enjoyable race again this year.
