In that case - I'll join the Smiffifest. I am generally worried about holding up a group waiting for me to grind my way up the hill but if its not that serious then I'll have a go. (words lamb and slaughter come to mind).
Oh Soupy - when will you learn
Do we have to dust down that photo again
MInd you this the woman who was so traumatised by the hills when we did that session 18 months ago she hasn't been back since
erm, hello there... Ive just entered the Outlaw and have been directed here as a lonely Londoner looking to get some sort of mileage in. Can I join in??
Just wondering where these rides start? As a non-car driver are they vaguely near stations??
Also, when you piratey types (in total awe) talk of easy rides, are we talking suitable for someone who really just commutes on a hybrid - or do i need to fancify my bike a bit before i am ready to ride with you lot? I have no idea what I'm doing!
No fancy bike needed here, i'm sure some of the starts are near train stations, if not loads of us drive from all over the capital, All you need is a sense of humour and a growing love of hills and creme eggs!
Hmmm... well its probably only a matter of time before my bike gets nicked again (3 times in 1 year!) so i can look at upgrading, or is possible to just change little bits and pieces? Ive no idea what im doing really! Its a light bike, maybe i could come to a meet and get your opinion as to whether it would suffice.
I'll sign up when I know where the rides are likely to be (particularly if there's an easy ride option )
Oh and I love hills - its the cream eggs i might have issues with... Ferret Biccies sound intriguing though!
I don't love hills though - not the up nor the down. But I'm learning to love them. Hill monster I'm not LOL! Except I probably look like one when I've fallen off into a hedge.
OK, tell you what, I am going out on the 1st October, I'll start at Newlands at 10am (Drove Road, Guildford, it's a dead end, you can't get lost).
I'll go out via Peaslake & Holmbury St Mary, back down to Abinger and back, POSSIBLY via Combe (You have to give me some entertainment).
It's doable on a hybrid, it's not too long (about 20 ish miles), nothing too steep, couple of long draggy bits which you will need to practice anyway. Then back for burgers & tea.
Soupy, Saffers & Cat, it's the course we did for a change last year.
If no hybriders turn up and I am feeling malicious, we can always turn right at Abinger and take the next left. Mwah ha ha ha.
It will also be nicely placed for the other dates for the Smiffy rides and frankly, I need a sharpener too.
Ferret, if you can make it as per the list, your skills and support would be most welcome.
PS, Katiecom, there is a station about 2 miles away. I come past it on the way in the car, it's Clandon or something. I can pick you and bike up if necessary and chair lift you to the start at the top of the upflat.
We will all be supremely qualified to tell you how to spend 2 grand on a bike! LOL. Or how to tart it up cheaply. But as Mmmmmmmeldy says, Outlaw will need a roadie at some point.
This is Carlo's Trattoria on your left on the A25. It is 100 yards short of Drove Road, which is on your right, opposite the Barn Cafe and at the very top of the upflat.
As you enter Drove Road (which is not marked as anything but a brown sign for a P & WC, a tree, an i and a cup and a sign saying Newlands Corner three feet under the brown sign.) Into the car park and look out for yeller & black. Google streetmap it, it's pretty clear.

I hate hills but love creme eggs
I shall come for creme eggs and the end of ride burger like last time I shall admire the riders

Is it just for 'Hybrids'?
