Well all I can add before the weekend is make sure you do some dynamic stretching before the race,,,,,, I know you are likely to end up standing around post stretching but at least you will have started the muscles firing up. That applies to you as well Mr Frog....
Being presumptuous I would like you (if you can) to set your "training partner" on the Garmin to 5.5 min k's for Sunday and hang onto him........I see no reason why you cant
Dynamic stretching..................
High Knees. Heel flicks, Lunges, High kicks, Floor sweeps, short sprints and sideways jogging, and dont forget to do both ways, in that sort of order will get things moving. If you can fit in a light 5 min jog beforehand even better.0
I will see if I can dig out the manual to find my training partner, I'm sure he's not too hidden
I am assuming that you would like me to stay in Ks for the time being? I think the unfamiliarity of the numbers may help, as, I will be honest, I am apprehensive about maintaining pace for a whole half - I had a strong 10 mile race before Christmas, but a disasterous half at New Year's that has knocked my confidence a bit. It is a fairly hilly course and the weather forecast is pretty dire - strong winds and heavy rain.
I have pottered home in the rain: 4 miles - 10.4m/m at 150 avHR The perfect recovery run - set off feeling a bit lumpy and jaded, and arrive home feeling all refreshed and bouncy
Thanks Frodo, I don't have anything to add cos it's been so long since I've been running properly but love for the mentor and mentee has me peeking into the thread ... I'm just doing the forum equivalent of a polite cough so I don't feel like I'm spying on you all Hopefully I can add some pathetic runs to contrast with your proper ones once the move is over
pops in to make sure everyone is ok and playing nicely...... had a lovely time last night even if I was a bit late too bed.
I have cycled this morning...not too far but it was quite quick and the cobwebs have been blown away...... Rest day today Frodo I presume (well as much of a rest day as domestics permit)
Evening all I sent Plum a text this morning, but I'm not actually 100% sure of making the start line of the Helsby Half tomorrow as I was sent home from work this morning with a temperature and stomach bug. Still feeling but not as bad as I was, so will just have to see whether I can get some fuel in tonight, how well I sleep and how I feel in the morning. I have made good use of my sofa time, however, and managed to programme the virtual running wotsit on my Garmin, for 5 and a half min/KM as instructed.
In better news, I have finally found a road marathon to work towards - one entry in North Dorset Village marathon, for May 6th, sorted
Ooo yay to North Dorset mara, see you there. I don't know if I'll make the start line cos I've been so poorly but I'll try and will be there either way

Which means I haven't skied in, erm, over thirteen years...
Firstly, where did that time go? And secondly, how rubbish am I going to be?!
and how risky in terms of injury?
Pretty large, taking into account my general muppet-numpty-ness.
But I was given no choice and I only found out on Wednesday.
The up-side is I will be responsible for looking after a group of absolute beginners, so am unlikely to be flying down any black runs.

However, I'm game to give it a damn good go

I am off out to my tri club dinner tonight so may be delicate in the morning but then I will be here later
I am at work in the morning, which I'll cycle to/from, then I *may* brave a swim in the afternoon
ooh ooh, finally a stretching routine ... this I am notoriously bad at (don't tell Dave!!) ... but I'm nicking this one ...
*points up in to air off to left "ooh whats that" whilst quickly cutting and pasting stretch routine*
So there
(I thought Plum would like the muddy cheerleading routine!)

Oh look, linkies seem to have found their way into this post
*whistles nonchalantly*
Aren't there some other Mundanites coming out to play at it too?
Oh well, there's plenty of time to wear you down, sorry, convince you
