anywayhooo.... im back for a quicky as got to get one of my piglets from school at half 5 ...
baconlube???
question IM nice or mallorca 2015 ? I quite fancy somewhere nice and warm as my last day alive. Think 2014 would be a piggy-step too far and are thankfully events are full anywayhoooo .....
Piggy I would take a look at the bike course from memory both those races have slightly hilly route's so dopending on you want to achieve it might be worth it or a bit scary. With hills come learning how to fly down them without falling off like the Italain job.
Not that Flat, but not overly hilly... sunny maybe, but not on the day I did it well not the whole day
My point is that no matter what you think you might be training for might not be what you get - expect the worst from any course and train accordingly.
Barcelona is a good course though in nice surroundings and you might get a get a sunny day and its towards the end of season, allowing you to max summer training
Flat requires constant cadence for you to maintain speed, and if you are ok on climbing hills at reasonable pace and learn to descend efficiently undulating courses can be quicker!
Swimming yesterday with some more tumble turn practise thrown in at the end. It is quite difficult to swim while laughing.
Been out for a run this afternoon. 5 miles, and Garmin says I averaged 9:12, which I am rather pleased with. However, I think G may have had a wee technical hitch at the start as I apparently ran the first mile in 7:55:41. This is unlikely for 3 reasons: a) I have never, ever run a mile that quickly; b) It was uphill; c) when I turned to run back I did the same mile downhill in 9:23.
But if it's on the Garmin it must be true, right? Right?
Alas no Nursey - sometimes the sats are out to begin with, so it thinks you're somewhere else - I often start in the fields opposite my house, which means when I turn the corner at the bottom of the road, I'm often doing 4 mm pace!!
Picked the road bike up from the LBS after its service today - new bar tape, cables, bottom bracket, chain, rear cassette .... its all shiny and new looking Look s too clean to take out and get dirty now!
Have been swimming on Wednesday (and think I convinced the lifeguard to do Outlaw ), turboing last night (which went a slightly awry because I had Chrissie in one ear, but also had Masterchef on the telly which was a wee bit of a distraction), and running today, with no watch, which was lovely.
Have also had wee boy cat at the vet and he has broken a toe. So he now has a splint and a big bandage, much to his disgust. And a bill, much to my disgust. I am in the wrong job.

OR
stay local and do Challenge Weymouth
or Outlaw was absolutely barmy on race day as I recall and it's pretty flat as courses go from memory
Flat is not neccesarily easier

Raf - please refer to Meldy's post to see what your answer should have been
Unfortunately just that first mile was wonky, or I'd now be happily deluded and changing my name to Paula
