The race/bib numbers will probably reflect what predicted finish time you have put on the registration
No 'probably' about it.. that's exactly what happens.. the low numbers are at the front end and each successive pen grouping going backwards starts with a new 10,000.. thus 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 etc..
Years ago, there used to be a graphic on the web site to show how it was organised..
@Weedy Gonzalez Thanks! I'm in grey, the 4hr 15 one. I did 4:42 in London this year but misjudged it and ended up walking a fair few miles. Better pacing and much more experience after joining a club in April (after the marathon, sadly) and I reckon that's an achievable goal.
Hi everyone. Lots of newcomers to the thread and it seems plenty of posts today. Has something been happening (or not) since I last posted?!?
Great to see some bold predicted times being written down there - yes Neil B and Iain M, I'm looking at you. C-o-o-l-i-o
I see that many of you have experienced the webserver equivalent of 20,000 people trying to run through La Bastille within 10 minutes of each other. It can get a bit congested. What are the odds that you'll still be able to register for the 65EUR places by the end of the week with no queuing?!
1) Publish the time for the opening. Just set a date and allow people to decide how super early/keen they want to be. Would end up with at least some separation in attempts and not everyone slamming the same time window.
2) Have a price tariff!? Have a blanket entry price for everyone so people aren't scrambling to be in the first 8000. Does a price tariff make any sense? Normally a price will increase after a certain date but not after a certain number of registrations. This point accentuates 1)
Please don't try applying anglo-saxon logic to a French solution. They are fundamentally incompatible. You can not change the way it is done. You may simply shrug your shoulders, light a Camel cigarette and be on your way. It is the beauty of being different and not caring how others cope with that. The Paris Marathon is run in France, under French rules, by the French, in the French manner. Love it and live with it. And never forget to bandage your tits! Allez-allez.
neil, I had the message my registration is validated (in French - google translated so it must be right). it's not showing under my races. just got to wait for the email now.
Dave The Ex-Spartan - hello mate. I've obviously seen you around in various threads and picked up that you are partnered with someone else who frequents the forums, but have never tried hard enough to work out who that is. Care to tell who it is so I don't spend the next 6 months acting like a div and failing to work it out?!?
Well, I have no idea if I'm in or not. It took the payment succesfully, then an error when returning to the "store" Nothing on my profile page. No email.
Same as me Danni. I'm resisting the urge to register again. I'll leave it til tomorrow and see if it changes. As TD said, by the end of the week it will probably still be €65 and working fine...
TD: I've sent you two emails about Amsterdam but no reply, are you avoiding the subject? And have you seen the weather forecast, 21 degrees, just my luck!
Comments
James: it's under R for Royaume Uni I think

And a word for some of you newcomers to Paris...

I tried again - now it confirms entry - hope I didn't pay twice! Number 30213
I've been out of my bike and I still have no email. I might stamp like Rumplestiltskin in a minute....
