But back to the point made earlier on this page; one aim was to try and be a motivational support group. The advice and support varies from "stop eating cheese", to "pull out your finger", and finally "get on your bike". There's also a bit of "you can find time if you really want to do so". There's also been a shed load of "stop spending money and start doing exercise".
For the avoidance of doubt, I don't want anyone saying something like "ooh, it's a bit warm". Great, you sweat more.

It was started as true intentions but what has gathered as one mans feeble ambitions has turned into a circus.

10k run(?) last night. not feeling too bad about it 24hrs later.

hardly fast and it was almost flat. but its progress of a sort.
Better than nothing, but little more than walking pace.
It really shows how woefully under prepared you were for Staffs 70.3. Get that Olympic distance event under your belt and then re-evaluate your long term plans and training, otherwise we'll be reading the same thing in another year's time.
You really are going to have to start training more effectively.

There are people round here hitting that whilst doing IM training, might of course explain why eating for an IM and training for an IM hasn't shown any weight loss ?
yep. preparation was total bollox; I was belligerent about it. lesson learned
swimming : got lucky - fast enough to make it, a little coaching and lucky on the day
cycling : seriously disconnected from reality. plenty of Z2 spinning but no intervals, no distance and NO road work until a week out? bonkers
running : non existent. 46 miles - mostly very little early and a little more after but near as dammit sod all march - june. frankly - not bothered to even make a pretence out of it.

Why did you start with a 10k? are you able to 'run' 5k?

depends what you call running - but even I am hard pressed to descibe it ( or any part thereof ) as running. just went out for a jog/walk and 90 minutes later I finished. one of these longer efforts every week is the plan. this slow for shorter just doesnt make sense. id be better out on the bike.
the staffs 70.3 introduced a sharp education that had been more than hinted at by dave and others before it happened . so lessons learned. thanks. only prize I pick up is the box the wooden spoon came in.
the lesson included withdraw from outlaw before you die trying and ruin it for people who actually gave a toss in training. next year maybe
shoulda, coulda, didnt. wasnt. didnt do the work , dont have the pace, legs, fitness. still got the lard. dont have the prize. simples. all show and no go.

18 miles this morning, yesterday 1800 m swim followed by 30 mile cycle followed by 10k run would have done 15k run but It was getting hot and I didn't have sunscreen on. Just so you know sarge back in Jan I could only run for 1 minute before stopping to walk. It's possible but you need to sort your dedication.
