Vixx that was going to be my next question, whereabouts in Durham is the race.;-) I might see you there if I can persuade my client to get some fresh air and watch a few loonies running around in mud.
If anyone wants my number for the brass monkey, message me your address and I'll post it first class when it arrives.I've checked site and numbers have been posted and everyone should have them by Saturday 12th.
Shielsy and sj,I'll try to keep an eye out for you,if I can spot you in 40,000 runners Sunday shouldn't be to hard.
An earlier Blaydon time would suit me better and Im keeping my fingers crossed for the same weather as last year.
Where is it in Durham? I'm up there at the weekend and may be able to get over there.
Afternoon all!
Hi Vixx. It's called Durham Cathedral relays, and the race HQ is Durham University, Cricket Pavillion, Green Lane. But I've no clue as to where the event takes place as I've never taken part before. Would be great to see you though if you've time.
Hi Graham - yes, it's very sad news about Mick, especially for those of us who knew him well (I still cannot believe it). Not the best of starts to the New Year, but the best thing to do (for me personally, when I'm feeling sad) is to just be determined to enjoy running, just for the sheer joy of being alive and healthy.
Day off today, so I've just been pottering about doing a spot of washing up, a spot of hoovering, and now (once I finish this cup of tea) I'll be making shepherd's pie for tea, having already got a big pan of vegetable soup on the go for healthy lunches - I could soooo cope with being a 1950s housewife (though I'd struggle with the deferring to the husband bit)
I'm in for this and so is my running partner. Unfortunately we were not organised enough to have accommodation booked in advance. Does anyone have any recommendations of not too expensive accommodation please. Am happy to drive a bit in the morning but preferably not more than an hour away. Thanks for your help!
The Uni does cheap accommodation within a few minutes walk of the start line. They seem to realease it a bit later in the year though. Otherwise, there are loads of B&Bs and also Travelodge etc. Jesmond area is good for the start. If they don't have rooms now, just look later. People will cancel rooms as we go along, specially closer to the day. You can also get accommodation near the finish and catch the shuttle bus or metro back into Newcastle for the start.
annieshaf - This year the Uni are not taking bookings direct unfortunately. You will have to go through Nirvana for them now. They are taking bookings for the Saturday night only and they are charging £45 for a single room (shared bathroom) or £65 for an en-suite single.
If you go with them don't pay for race transfers on top (£15) - its much cheaper and most likely faster to walk to the metro and get that.
Good to hear you're fit and well mr sj after all of your injuries over the last couple of years. I've not been running much of late but have started to get out for a plod on a more regular basis again and beginning to take an interest in all things running. Hopefully I'll get back to my regular three runs a week soon.
Hi WTS hope that you're well too. MIssed out on the GNR Mirror ballot so fingers crossed for the general ballot and will hopefully see you in the Toon in September. Excellent tribute to MtM by the way - I had something in my eye by the end of it!
I'm really hoping to Stringy - just depends on if I can get leave (weekend nights that weekend). Won't know for definate until I go back into work on Saturday tho.

Shiesly - you and me both.
I wouldn't want anyone to defer to me, but I am fully house trained and cook, clean, iron etc anyway
I'll see if I can persuade Salsa to let me have the morning to myself and she can catch up with her mom and dad
When is the Brass Monkey and where?
