Josie Jump, yes, I think it may have soemthing to do with internet access from the NHS site I'm training at today. Just got my boyfriend to enter me - so I'm in!
All I need to do is do exactly the opposite to Paula, who sleeps 13 hours a day and doesn't have a day job to speak of, then I'll hit the road, after doing a 27 minute 10k out of thin air and beat everyone!
Definitely up for this again as it's my home town, and, as all of the halves I've completed have been on hilly courses, it will be interesting to find out how much flatter it is this year, especially as my aim is to duck below 100 minutes for the first time.
Just seen the map and now not planning to do it. Start in Whitley, Fcuk right off! Its bad enough running through that area without starting it there.
All you lucky people that usually train in or stay in and around the Rivermead have now got to travel to the worst area of Reading for the start (5 miles away). Also I would not consider leaving your car in that area, I wouldn't. This is the area that in previous races they can't clear of traffic and hence end up delaying the start of the race.
And then at the end you have a soleless, boring two miles stretch down the A33 to the football stadium with precious little crowd support or cover if the weathers kind.
Remember what you all said after the end of last years 30+ minute wait in the cold or spare yourself the anguish
You wanted to sign something in preparation for this race, nothing personal intended.
Just had another look at the map. The area they've suggested parking is close to the A33, hence easy to get in from the M4 and probably secure so won't need to park near the start. Not quite so bad!

may be doing Bath 1/2m, and then want to run paddock wood 1/2m at the end of March.
there's also the Tun Wells 1/2m last week in Feb and the Hastings 1/2m is also around this time of year ..both are good events and more local for me.

I'll show you how to run young man!

And I suppose I might as well run it if you buggers are going to be blocking all the roads anyway....
