Last long run today. The A20 path and downs marathon. Didn't quite go to plan as I had fully intended to have a steady 4hr run. What actually happened was a sub 3.30 pb.
At the start it is very narrow and if you are not near the front you get caught in runner traffic so I started at the front headed out at sub 8 min miles and didn't back off. Even had a negative split.
Dill, I have commissioned two trays of bread pudding from my supremely talented sister. I have had the tough job of taste testing, and it isn't bad. I'm now only at Little Wittenham, so make sure you grab some.
That Malteser ice cream you bought me on the GUCR was probably the best ice cream I've ever tasted GKD. We'll discuss ice cream further when I try and enlist your services next year .
Tiago I am looking forward to that bread pudding.
Taper is going good. 11 mile easy run today and 3 x 3 milers this week. I did share a table with someone with a very nasty cold last night. If looks could kill, she would have been hung, drawn and quartered.
Ooooh get WiB with his coffee! It'll be hot grit and be damned coffee at Chain Hill!
Bread pudding and a homemade soup is what I'm planning, but not sure how to keep the soup hot - will have to keep swapping with the kettle I guess.
I heard about ice cream on NDW100 (I think). How does anyone stop that from melting?
Anyway, good luck to anyone doing this and remember - don't shake hands with anyone, don't touch toilet doors and stay away from anyone with colds (Dill) - there's too much training gone into this to be conked out by a cold!
Looking forward to it now and hopefully the weather will stay as it is and no high winds or torrents of rain will appear between now and Sunday morning.
Not long now peeps. All packed and ready to go. I'm just about to crack open my first pre race beer. Going to travel down in the morning as my camper is knackered. Can't wait.
Well what a race perfect conditions and manged to complete it in 19h 14m a new pb The grandslam complete in a new record overall time now settling down with a nice bottle of red then sleep
Fantastic results everyone. I was receiving updates via a very enthusiastic friend on Facebook and am pretty amazed at some of those times. Just brilliant.
Well done to all finishers today. Was a bit envious as a friend headed off for pacing duties last night.... looked like pretty good conditions. Good to see you take the slam Lingster with a solid efforts and a great result for you too Dill.
Well done Dill an awesome time. A massive well done to everyone who finished yesterday and a massive thankyou to all the aid station crews you did an amazing job
Good job guys, especially the grand-slammers. I enjoyed volunteering, albeit for just a few hours, and I have to say you ultra-runners put road runners to shame. Everyone from first to last had smiles and thanks, it made the job a pleasure, and you did our sport proud.

Just hide the cake when I arrive and there'll be plenty for everyone.

At least I can rest now.
Nice one Dill. see you on the Ridgeway in a couple of weeks.
Hey Dill, great running.
Did my last long ones this weekend as well, looking forward to the next few weeks of tapering
We ran the first 30-40 miles of the Thames Path 100 together last year (Dave here) , was a bit nippy and muddy, but great fun!
Looking forward to getting this one done and dusted! See you in a few weeks!
Thanks Richyla
Dave hows it going? Be good to catch up.
I am so glad of a taper. Yesterdays marathon busted me. Done a 12 hour shift today and felt totally spent.

I hate bread pudding. Got any ice cream with that Tigs?
I'm not even going to try to keep you happy.
Okay then, but I can't do coffee outside and you can't be serious about ice cream, so is there anything else you'd like?
I'll try to get some fruitcake for Lingster too. I'm cycling to the cp, so I'm a bit tight for space.
I'm always serious about coffee and ice cream.
Not to worry though, I'll be carrying a jetboil stove and coffee so if you ask nicely I'll make you a coffee
That's a very cool offer, but I'm only out there for a couple of hours. And I'm supposed to be looking after you guys!
I hope you're all tapering well, and ready to go, I'm looking forward to cheering you on
You will be able to get some high quality coffee at streatley, GKD. How often you will be there I have no idea!

I guess the sarcasm as lost.

Holed up in Streatly YHA. The piece of string runners have been put on a bus.One theory is that the bus is heading for Wales!
See you at Little Wittenham chaps. I wish I was running it too. Sleep well. Run strong.
Best of luck to everybody in this race.
Looks like you are going to have reasonable weather.
Bring home the buckles!
Wow Lingster! Well done you! Enjoy the wine and the sleep - well deserved.
Well done indeed Lingster, well done to Dill too who I believe PB'd by over five hours, coming in at just over 18 hours I think
Well done all. Dill was on form and nailed it! Great run.
Some outstanding times there.
Big well done to both of you.
I presume that a lot more people finished than last year!

Well done everyone! Great running. Nice to hear about decent weather for this one for a change...
