Yes well I got a bit flustered when asked for a time, so I used my one and only half-marathon time from over a decade ago, doubled it and added 15 mins 'just in case' - funnily enough I'm not quite going to make that after allimage I'll change down to pink at the expo.

Hi DV - could I get added to the list pretty please?image

Red 5583 for me - thanks!!

I can tell its getting closer to marathon day as starting to think every niggle is a major injury (I look like a mummy with all the KT tape I apply) and starting to consider purchases of beetroot juice...

What are peoples thoughts on listening to ipods/mp3 players for marathons?  I have never done it before (and seen people abused for wearing them in other races) but I do wear one throughout my training. I dolike to get the buzz from a crowd on race day but didnt know if a motivational playlist may help when the going gets tough....

Roundman - There's no problem using music in the race and I've not seen anybody get upset about others using music, but I've always been in the slowest pens, so I can't speak for other pens.

I ran my first entirely with music and my second entirely without. I can definitively say going without was the better experience (though I had my music source at the ready should I need it).

Engaging and interacting with the crowd was a huge boost to me and to the overall fun of the event. Having said that, though, as you're in the "Eat my dust" pen high-fiving small children as you go by may not be at the top of your list of priorities!

Hi Roundman,  You don't have to have your music on full blast.

I love high fiving small children, I wonder if it is a help or a hindrance.  I feel a rush (adrenaline/increase heart rate ???), I wonder if effects performance.  I've never seen the Kenyans high fiving and their times are much faster than mine.  I would be sad if I didn't do it.

That's an impressive runners' List, DV. Thank you.

Of course, all the real lookers are already in the Who's Who 2014 , here  https://plus.google.com/photos/117729082344820870557/albums/5940991828462572481?banner=pwa

but it would be nice to have some more photos..Somehow ' I'll be in shorts and wearing a number' isn't that much of a clue on the Start...

If you'd like your photo added to the rogues' Gallery, please email me a jpeg with a note of your thread nickname, your bib number and your time goal/ any last words...Running photos are best image We need to know what yer legs look like...

No DV, I won't be in London until the next week.  Unfortunately, while you are all galavanting around Paris I'll be at work!

Speaking of London, any plans for pre or post marathon get togethers?

Yes Danni - you are the royal guest and we (The London Massive) will be in attendance for some post race Pizza ..... along with another brave little soldier Radar Sal doing the Paris/London back to backer ......

ATM - photo sent (a little muddy....)

My last marathon I thought I would shout "C'MON!!!" repeatedly to the crowd to get a huge cheer after 13 miles.  Whilst I did get a buzz from this, I was knackered for the next mile wasting all my energy on the cheers - silly me!

OK OK. PC and Weedy are right. My "crowd interactions" may have resulted in some unexpected life adventures. Those who know the story....well...they know it too well and I won't bore them with it again. Those who don't will just have to find out in Corcoran's. image
