My target pre race was sub 23. But talking to some people before the start said if I can do sub 24 on our parkrun, then sub 22 is within reach on this course. So I thought i'd give it a go!
I was elated - once I'd had a little lie down in the finish funnel!
Hello all. This thread moves fast! This week I've started running to/from work, just trying out a few days a week for next few weeks till body gets used to it. Min distance between work and home is only 4mi though, so should be ok. Hopefully. Only downside is no showers at work (yet), so maybe a bit eww for my close neighbours.
If you're up for a drink afterwards, a Paris marathon thread gathering will take place after the event in a bar close to the event finish......details to follow early next week!
Does this sound good to you? If so, please let me know, here will be fine. It'd help when sorting out a reservation. However, I'm sure the chosen venue will be ample big enough for all who wish to come along on the day!
Ran with a team today attempting to run 250 miles in a day, I was in the winning team, we completed 175 laps between us in our slot 11-12.
First time for me on a track and it was hard, surprised how fast I pushed myself ... Was it the springy outside. track at Spring Hall, Halifax or my first use of Pegasus 30s?
There were hourly slots and I also joined a team 4-5pm, we covered 172 laps (third place)
Overall 8.12 miles in 57:08 mins, with splits as follows ...
It was pretty consistent but the last 3 miles were faster. Each session consisted of relay with 3 runners at any one time, in the last 20 mins continuous running.

Total 32 laps / 8.12 miles for me and we all smashed the distance covering 401 miles in total.
Mattywarr - I thought I met you in Corcorans? I wonder who the bloke was that I thought was you? Cracking PB .
Ha ha! No while you lot were all having fun having a few beers I was having dinner on the seine in front of the eiffel tower. The missus treated me and I couldn't say "well i just fancy a few pints..." as she'd prebooked the package.
Thanks for all the kind words folks! Followed it up with 5 x 1km intervals yesterday which was a bit stupid. Feeling it a bit today, unsurprisingly! Still averaged splits of 4.07 which I was pretty pleased with.

They're the little known or produced 3.5 on the BSC (bristol stool chart).
Happy birthday Scott
I made you a cake
...it was very nice
Good news! Smashed my 5k PB last night by 2 minutes and ran 21:59 at a local race! And I only set my previous PB on Saturday, so I am delighted!
Bad news! I just calculated my new VDOT and training paces and made my eyes water
Mattywarr - Wow, amazing running. You must be chuffed. I've still not clocked under 23 minutes for a 5k.

Weedy - Scott is not having a cake, the candles were too expensive.
MattyWar - you're just showing off. 3h32 marathon prediction... Well done.
orapidrun - Add me to the list please! Missed out on Corcorans so keen to meet people.
Don't... Thats far too tempting, it's going make me consider a tilt at a sub 3h30 marathon next spring and I've sworn off them... for now....
Orapidrun - You already know I'm up for a drink/food after London, but just to re-iterate, i'll be there!
Orapidrun I'm in, and a +1
Now to attack this tempo run.....
Hi Heroine, I'm 58675 in Rose

Ooooh well done Matt - that's mighty speedy
That's a hell of a pb mattywarr!
Well done Matty and Andy.
Engineer - were you on a motorbike?
Matty that is a HUGE PB! Top bombing.
Engineer - 40K per hour average if my arithmetic is correct. Bloody hell that's quick! Was it a time trial?
Mattywarr - I thought I met you in Corcorans? I wonder who the bloke was that I thought was you? Cracking PB .
And well done Andy - that sounds like an interesting challenge to get involved with.
Nice morning run for me - feeling properly warm out there today .
Aiii.. Do you like testing your threshold? ;0)
RR - I was the same as you. 10k with le pooch this morning and now i'm working from my balcony with the sunlight shining all around me *bliss*
Engineer - Bloody hell, that's shifting it some. Well done.

Andy and Engineer - cracking work yourselves!
Emmy... I find testing my threshold is more productive with other people than on my own, if that answers any questions.
