Could be a challenge over the weekend though. Especially as tomorrow will be spent watching the rugby at Twickenham. Going to be difficult to eat anything that isn't a burger and chips I fear!
Double up on the burger (w/o bun) and bin the chips - easy!

That will be the plan and what I did earlier in the week when eating out. Much easier to do midweek when working away though (as somebody else is paying for dinner)
May cheat over the weekend for a couple of beers though I guess. (Though I think these are allowed, which I do disagree with)
Will, after nearly ten months of low carb I think I am dying slow than I was when I was eating carbs I am definitely faster at SBR too, which I know is not very piratey .
Thanks - will get myself some high-5 tabs I think. I've been loading up on salt on meals, but I think I need something extra. I tested my fitness at a parkrun on the weekend, it was relatively slow for me. But I can't work out if that is LCHF related or generally not trained fast since January. Probably the latter..
Try a magnesium supplement Coops it helps balance other minerals and electrolytes. Could be either, I slowed down loads when I first went low carb but managed a very hilly half mara today in 1:35, (fasted) and no DOMS. which is great.
Well done on the half Duda! High 5's (with magnesium) are in the post! From Wiggle.. will have to give away the Haribo. It may be my biggest LCHF test yet.
or like some suggest absorb it through the skin in the form of bath salt?
Is this a real thing???!!!
I was in Tesco pharmacy section and on the shelf of the "Bio new world healthy" bit were two products, one a spray on oil with Magnesium tetra hydro something something in it that you apply after bathing and another with the same thing you put in your bath, not sure its real but thats what it said on the packaging
The best way todo magniesium baths it bulk buy Epsom salts from either eBay or Amazon. another option is farm or large pet food supply place. ( the dirt you often find on industrial estates. )
Day 11 on LCHF: 2kg lighter (some will be water loss sure) and ran 10miles last night - never felt so good in my life. Just felt I could keep going for ages! Felt really light, really energized, didn't need to drink/eat, and interestingly feel that recovery is better too - no achy legs this morning and good enough to do some exercise again!
Turns out you can really run on fat rather than carbs! Totally amazed.

I do sometimes find it in TK Maxx of all places too. A 2kg bag for about a fiver. Does me for about five baths or so.
Incidentally, whilst on the subject of shopping...there was some discussion about nutrition whilst out on a run/cycle.
I used to carry around almond butter in a small reusable squeezy tube (the type that's used by campers to carry shampoo etc), but it was always a messy job trying to funnel it into the narrow neck of the tube.
However, I've now found a UK stockist of individual sachets of nut butter, which are ideal for taking out on long runs/rides:
My salt/mag tablets have arrived. Do you take one every day like a vitamin supp, or just on heavy training days??
Coops - I'm sure Duda will have a much more scientific answer, but I understand that 400mg of Mg Citrate is sufficient, so dose according to the strength of your tablets. The ones I've taken previously are 1 a day, but check your bottle.
I might have spoken too soon.... Cramped not once, not twice, but THREE times last night. And this morning's 3miles were somewhat of a struggle - difficult to explain, I felt fine myself, but the legs had NOTHING in them. I wonder whether its cramps related? Or is it in fact, that I am not yet fat adapted..
Pudge, I've been using Pip and Nut for just daily snacking for a while now - they're really tasty and I always have one in my bag for emergencies! They have three flavours, my absolute favourite is the Almond Coconut one - its a little more liquidy due to coconut water in it, which could make it easier to consume during rides (yes, a tad more sugar, but shouldn't hurt especially during exercise). Recommend!
This might sound like a stupid question, but is coconut a 'nut'?
If you're ok with it then maybe try coconut cream. It's a thick paste, approx 200 kcal per 100ml and approx 20g fat. The smallest cartons I've found are in Sainsburys but they're still 250ml so much more than one serving. I decant the stuff into the same tubes I use for almond butter. You can get the tubes in camping shops and such places.
I must admit that I DO still use carb-based sources sometimes. For really long events (IM, Ultras etc), I use shot bloks and Nakd bars alongside fat-based foods. All I'd say is just experiment and settle on whatever works for you.

Nope, nothing to add, although it may be worth taking a little more Mg for the first 2 weeks until you bring up the background levels in you body. Regarding salt its very personal , I find that If i use 1 - 2 teaspoons a day in water and in my food and a 1/2 teaspoon before an intense work out that does me fine.
But I do use a lot of sodium and my sweat is very salty has always tasted very salty.

You lot not died or moved on to another fad yet?

So after 4 days on the Maffetone 2 week carb elimination test I've already lost 5 pounds and feel great! Two questions:-
1) Why did nobody tell me about this sooner?
2) When properly fat adapted, do you still tend to "top up" with carbs during an event or go completely native?
Bob, for anything over a half marathon I tend to use about 100 kcal an hour, either rice bran syrup or palatiose work well for me.

Hi Duda, just been looking at Magnesium, do you take a tablet or like some suggest absorb it through the skin in the form of bath salt?
Ahh right! breathing through my arse is one thing but sucking the stuff you put in the bath up yer arse is quite another

My mind is blown.
Can I join the LCHF gang please?

Hi TallGirl! Sounds like you've converted super quick

Ahah! TallGirl this is where the salt/magnesium supplements come in!
Pudge, do you have non-nut based long ride solutions? I'm allergic.. I think I might need to get creative..
