Excellent, TT! Very muggy yesterday - horrible. A little cooler this morning for my run (7 miles). I was out just before 5am. I'm done with this heat but it's going to last a few more days yet.
TT... Well done! Your recovery has gone so well! Cal... Early?! or what?...Couldn't believe your distance and time when I entered my run on Strava. Same Same. Just that you were out 4 hours before me!
Yesterday's video call with wife's brother in Brazil went very well! Wife was so excited, you would never have guessed that she had a speech problem! (She has an appointment with a specialist tomorrow to work on 'voice banking' while it is still an option. Just another aspect of her MSA)
Seven miles in the morning sun. Quite a fade but pleased to have finished with something left.
Tonight's 5 mile trail race was really tough - heat wasn't too bad at first but I struggled with the climbs and one section was really humid. There's one long climb (not steep, just long, and on gravel) which I decided to run/walk as I was really labouring (Garmin says my *average* HR for the race was 180, yikes!) Finished in 52 minutes so considerably slower than 2019 when I did the race in 44 minutes (for the first...there are three) then 45 for the second. Heat was obviously a factor, but I am also clearly unfit as well. Lots of work to do.
Hobie: lovely photo. I really do enjoy the pics you post.
Parkrunners: everyone returning on Saturday? I might end up missing the first week due to travelling to see my mother in law. Departure time under negotiation.
MrMr2 your recovery seems to have sped up recently. I seem to plateau then serge, bit like my training!
Donnie I too am off to the MiL this weekend, so I am going to leave ParkRun for a couple of weeks, also our local one is at the coast and heading there for 0900 on a Saturday in July doesn't fill me with joy! Cal well done for even being out in the evening.
Out after spin class so a lot slower as hotter and legs tired! So glad the gyms are back to normal and we can do brick sessions again with considerably less faff.
Donnie, I'd use that as an excuse to do one near your MiL. I'm going to Bushy...done it once before but my clubmate's doing his 250th so I'm going to be social.
Hobie... Thanks for wowing us again with your photography. It must be similar conditions that are encouraging the boats coming across the Channel. Cal.. Well done on getting it together for a tough 5miles. Donnie... Yes, I was wondering about parkrun on Saturday. It would be my first in Chipping Norton but my 100th (total). I don't know the course but apparently it is not one of the best. TT... Yes...thankful for signs of improvement; not so much with my pace or distance but certainly with fewer discomforts during and post-run. (Almost none today.) Continuing with my stretches...!
A slow 10km this morning. Out too late, and a few more degrees than I needed.
Hobie...What were you doing in London?! And running around the Royal Docks. (Seen on Strava.) (In 1960 I joined my first ship, as Deck Boy, aged 15, in King George Fifth Dock. This dock was opened by King George Fifth on 8th July, 1921!)
Decided to run this morning, even though I ran yesterday, and did a testing 8 miles. No parkrun tomorrow!!
Went out Thursday. Run mid afternoon, it was almost certainly the hottest weather I've run in. Car temp was 30c just a few moments before I set off. Aim was the usual 5 mile post work loop, bailed out from a little section so ended with 4.3.
Negotiations complete for tomorrow. I'll be park running. Excited.
Finally some rain to run in this morning, loved it...sooo refreshing after the last few days. MrM2, we're down here in London this weekend with our daughter who's been working for Venturi Formula E team remotely...first time she's met the team. London docklands is soooooo flat after West Wales.🤣 1141 miles YTD
It's baaaaaaack! My local doesn't start until next week so decided to go to Bushy where a clubmate was doing his 250th. Did a mile warm-up beforehand, plus the parkrun. Given I'm far from race fit, I gave myself a target of 27 minutes and managed 26:56 so happy with that.
Evening all, I’m still here and alive. Still running everyday but not much due the heat.
Saw on sky news international that park run was on again, still never done one and since I’m not allowed in the country unless I want to give boris £1750 to stay in a crappy hotel for 10 days quarantine I won’t be doing one anytime soon.
Congrats on passing 200 Dubai and good to hear from you. Hobie1495, you may be right - the speed humps are probably the only hills in the Docklands - I was Head of Policy for a while at the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood when the London Borough of Tower Hamlets was split into seven Neighbourhoods. We became Corporate Strategy a few years later. I spent 19 years there and sort of know the area - it made the most boring part of the London Marathon bearable because I was so familiar with the roads. Well done Cal, I was aiming for 40 minutes but did 40:13 - only good bit was that was even paced.
Good to hear from you, Dubai...and yes, it is mostly...there are a few that haven't started yet, and Wales and Scotland still haven't started. But I'm already planning next week's excursion. Which one did you do, Harmander - Val or Barking?
14 plodding miles today...I thought it would be cooler but it was very warm and muggy and I am obviously still carrying fatigue from Wednesday's race and parkrun. I'd hoped for 16 but my legs were very heavy so decided to cut it a bit short. Nice route though - Wandle Trail, Mitcham Common and Pollard's Hill. Saw a lot of foxes.
Well done all you 'parkrunnners'; supporting your events on the first day back. I checked out the Chipping Norton School parkrun. Didn't run, just took it all in and saw my daughter finish. Just 87 runners. I saw that both Bournemouth and Poole were way over 500 each. At the moment I feel that any result under 30 mins. would be a step in the right direction.
Well done on the streak, Dubai!
A mixed effort over 6miles this morning. Think my legs were still recovering from a couple of mid-week runs.
Harmander, I'm surprised you haven't visited more! I'm a Lon-doner - I have done 74 different parkruns to date. Looking forward to touring again. 8 miles this morning - still warm although it'll be cooler tomorrow. Yay.
Cal, I am a creature of habit (its why I like lapped courses) and do not drive. Valentines park is 635m from my front door Barking is 2 miles away I used to train someone close to Osterley My uncle (the GNR ever present) lives in Darlington. i was doing the Victoria Park 10km when I ran the Mile End parkrun - before the 10k.
Harmander, I did similar when I did the Pride Run (11am) - I did Hackney Marshes first. Got decent times at both but was ruined for the rest of the day.
Cal, Harmander, who doesn't love a double race day...ouch! Another one of our virtual 5k races tonight...still not really allowed to do big races over here yet. 1153 miles YTD
10 miles today. I was supposed to give blood yesterday so had planned something short and easy, but I got turned away due to the fact I had an ECG last week and haven't had results yet. Silver linings, I guess.

Anyone seen Dubai or Harmander? They've both been absent for a week.
Hope their injuries haven't got worse.
Had absolutely no energy yesterday so today was a slow 5 mile recovery run. Air is a lot fresher, thank goodness.
